By Sherly Isaac

When I was in Primary School, I attended girl scout from my school. And we had camp for two days about eighty miles away from my home town. After attending the camp we returned and our bus reached my home town after midnight. My teachers arranged a high school student to drop me at my home. The high school student gave me a ride in his bicycle and he dropped me just in front of my house. By the time when we reached my home, it was already past one o'clock. The boy was so scared himself that he did not even stay until someone came and opened the door.

At that time we lived in the third floor of a four story building. The ground floor and the 4th floor were used by the homeowner and the second and third floors were on rent. There was a separate door to go to the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors. At night the door would be locked so that there could be protected from unwanted guests and intruders. There was one calling bell at the door which had no direct connection to the 2nd and 3rd floors except to the 4th floor. At that time there was no telephone in our home. So at home no one knew the exact time of the arrival of my bus.

I was standing in front of my house all alone at dark, at that hour with my small suitcase, not knowing what to do. I was scared and I was sure that if I rang the bell, no one would be coming out. There were scary thoughts in my mind, "do I have to stand like this for the whole night...? if some thief comes what would happen to me...?" I stepped in the small gallery and rang the bell then I came out and looked towards the balcony to see whether someone is coming out. There was no one. Everyone was fast asleep. After a few moments I stepped in again and rang the bell for the second time. Then I came back and looked towards the balcony. Still there was no one. Then again I tried to ring the bell a third time. When I came out and looked towards the balcony I was surprised. My mom had just come out of the house and stood at the balcony to see whether I came back or not. In excitement, I waved my hands and said, "I am here." My mom said, "Don't worry, stay right there, I am coming."

She rushed to the stairs and opened the door. It was hardly ten minutes after my arrival at the doorstep that she opened the door for me. As I entered in, my first question was to her, "How could you possibly be at the Balcony at this hour of the night?" She smiled and said, "I knew that you could come at any time in the night so every half an hour I was coming out in the balcony to look whether you were there or not." Oh.. I stood there in awe thinking how she gave up her sleep and waited just for me.

This is the love of a mother. No matter what she had to suffer or lose, she would do anything to protect and care for her child. In the Bible there are many names of God and one of the names is "El-Shaddai" that means Almighty God. But scholars believed that El-Shaddai has deeper meaning than just Almighty God. So they translated it in Greek as "All Sufficient" . The word Shad is translated as Breast. Just like a mother cares for her newborn child and provides nourishment, God is "all-sufficient" to provide for His Children. Somewhere I read, 'If we combine El (Almighty God) with Shaddai (All-sufficiency) we have "The Almighty God who pours out sustenance and blessing."'

Yes, Almighty God who is All-Sufficient to meet the needs of His children. Bible says in Isa 49:15-16, "Can a woman forget her nursing child, And not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, Yet I will not forget you. See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; Your walls are continually before Me."

A few months back we went to see one of our cousin's mother-in-law as she was resting in her house after a major surgery. While returning home one of the tires of the car got flattened. It was dark, it was cold even with my heavy jacket and layers of warm cloths, I was shivering. While my brother was trying to take out the spare tire I stood beside him thinking, "Father God, what we will do now?" I was praying in my heart, Father God, "Please send us help from heaven." My brother tried to fit the jack but he had no idea in which location it would fit. A few moments later one van pulled over at the right side of our car. The person asked, if we needed any help. By his help my brother could replace the flat tire. It was just a miracle that he came at that time and helped us. How much we thanked God for sending someone in time.

In this mother's day, I want to let you all know that there is a God who cares for you more than a mother who loves and cares for her children. One side He is a mighty God but on the other side He has a heart of a nursing mother. Are you in need today? Are you in pain and sorrow today? Look to the God who is not only mighty but all-sufficient. Who can meet your need and wipe away your tears. Who will console you and comfort you as a mother does for her child.

We wish you all the mothers a very happy and blessed mother's day. May God bless you all and wipe away your tears. May you see your children blessed and receiving all the blessing God kept for them.

A Mother's Love

By Sherly Isaac

Bible tells us the story of two brothers Esau and Jacob. They were born to Isaac in his old age. We read in Gen 25:27-28, "So the boys grew. And Esau was a skillful hunter, a man of the field; but Jacob was a mild man, dwelling in tents. And Isaac loved Esau because he ate of his game, but Rebekah loved Jacob."

Further we read that Isaac was advanced in age and so he told Esau whom he loved dearly, "Go out to the field and hunt game for me and make for me savory food, such as I love, and bring it to me that I may eat, that my soul may bless you before I die.(Gen 27:4)" The talks between Isaac and Esau was heard by Rebekah who loved Jacob. She went to Jacob and told him everything. Then she asked him to disguise himself as Esau and go to Isaac so that he could receive the blessings which Esau was about to receive. Rebekah pushed him to that spot to take the blessings of Esau. She herself prepared the kids of goat as Isaac loved and forced Jacob to take that with him. Isaac was advanced in age so he could not recognize Jacob who came as Esau and blessed him with all his heart.

Later on Esau came and he and Isaac both realized the great deception which Jacob did. Esau cried with an exceedingly great and bitter cry, and said to his father, "Bless me; me also, O my father!" Then further we read in Gen 27:41, "So Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing with which his father blessed him, and Esau said in his heart, "The days of mourning for my father are at hand; then I will kill my brother Jacob." Esau and Jacob became enemies.

You can see how all these troubles were created by Rebekah herself. All these were the making of her own. Sometimes we create troubles and problems for ourselves. In the book of Genesis we read about another woman named Eve who ate the fruit of the forbidden tree and put herself and her husband in great trouble. Both were thrown out of the Garden of Eden and lost their blessings and presence of God. That's what sin does to a person. Sin will put you in great trouble. Eve believed in the serpent's lies and ate the fruit but later she found herself in great trouble. Rebekah thought that she will win her battle by deception but she was greatly mistaken and put herself and her sons in trouble.

Now Rebekah was deeply troubled when she heard that her son Esua was waiting for Isaac's death and after that he will kill Jacob. Rebekah gives Jacob another advise in Gen 27:43-45, "Now therefore, my son, obey my voice: arise, flee to my brother Laban in Haran. And stay with him a few days, until your brother's fury turns away, until your brother's anger turns away from you, and he forgets what you have done to him; then I will send and bring you from there. Why should I be bereaved also of you both in one day?"

You can see the soft side of mother's heart - the love of a mother. Though she did a mistake, though she was the mastermind of deceiving Esau yet she was not ready to see both of her sons die in one day. A mother cannot see her children die, it is the most painful and heartbreaking thing for her.

In 1 Kings 3:16-28 we read an amazing judgment of Solomon. Two women came and stood before him. Both were disputing and claiming a living boy as their own child. Solomon heard everything then he said, "Bring me a sword." So they brought a sword before the king. And the king said, "Divide the living child in two, and give half to one, and half to the other." Then the woman whose son was living spoke to the king, for she yearned with compassion for her son; and she said, "O my lord, give her the living child, and by no means kill him!" But the other said, "Let him be neither mine nor yours, but divide him." So the king answered and said, "Give the first woman the living child, and by no means kill him; she is his mother."

This is the love of a mother. She cannot see her child dying before her eyes.

When Adam and Eve sinned, they died as God told them before. But God could not see them dying, perishing and going to hell fire. So He made a way for them. He provided skin tunics to cover their shame as we read in Gen 3:21, "Also for Adam and his wife the LORD God made tunics of skin, and clothed them." He commanded his prophets to sacrifice blameless lamb and goat at the altar so that the sins of the people could be pardoned by the shed blood. But that blood was not sufficient for perfect cleansing. So God Himself came down in the form of a man to die for our sins so that we may not die in sin but live and have everlasting life. Jesus said in John 5:24, "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life."

Every person born in this world is heading to eternal death and destruction but you can avoid your own death and destruction by accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior. If you have not yet accepted Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior and if you want to receive everlasting life, please pray this prayer with me:

Dear Jesus, I do not want to die an everlasting death but I want to live forever. Please forgive and forget all my sins and cleanse me with your precious blood. Today, I accept you as my personal Lord and Savior. Please help me to walk in your holy ways. Thank you for hearing my prayers and giving me eternal life. I pray in Jesus name, Amen.

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 8th Dec.. 2015

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
