In India there was one Malayalee (South Indian) family who lived in one of the houses which was just backside of ours. The father worked as a Police officer and mother was working in Gulf countries. They had two small children under the age of ten. It was summer time and kids had their vacation as exams were over. The mother came on vacation to be with her family.

One afternoon as usual the little boy went for bike riding. About half an hour later his mother noticed that the bike was there but the boy was not. She searched for the boy, sent his sister to search... neighbors came in and searched for the little boy but there were no trace of him. Finally they called police and search begun. Next day morning they brought big equipments to look in the well which was just in front of their house. The little boy's body was recovered from the bottom of the well tied with a heavy stone. Later they found out that someone had animosity with the father so they took a revenge, killed the little boy and put him under the water.

When body of little boy was brought in, it devastated whole family. Heart broken father could not bear the pain of his only son's brutal murder. He resigned from his secure Government job so that he could be with his daughter all the time. So that no one could snatch away from him the only daughter left. At times the father stood in his house and stared at the well for hours from where his son's body was recovered. Their hearts were filled with much grief and pain.

This is not a story of one family but there are hundreds who have experienced this type of brutality in their lives either by losing their loved ones when someone murdered them or some other way. Death of a loved one is painful and too cruel to handle. Death is the most bitter thing ever happens to a person. When Jonathan was killed in a battle and when David got the news of Jonathan's death, it really made him very sad. David lamented with this lamentation over Saul and over Jonathan his son and he told them to teach the children of Judah the Song of the Bow. (2 Sam 1:17-18)" But in Psalms David talks about God's mercy that though he had to go through death, he will not fear because God was with him. We read in Psa 23:4-5, "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over."

But today we have Good News because Son of God took our place on the cross and died on our behalf so that we should not face eternal death. On the cruel cross, Jesus defeated sin, pain, sorrow, sicknesses and more than that the death. Paul writes in 1 Cor 15:55 "O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?" Jesus tasted the most bitter thing in his life just for you and for me so that we could experience blessed life that will never fade away. He went through all the terrible things in His life yet came out of all victoriously. Today He is ready to give us victory in our lives. Today He wants to remove death from our lives and all fear of death. He wants to give us freedom from all our fear and death.

Are you afraid of death today? Have you gone through such a brutality in your life? Come to Jesus, give your life to Him. He will give you eternal life. He will fill you with peace that passes all understanding. Yes, there is peace with God.

Jesus - A Life of Prayer

By Sherly Isaac

Mat 14:23 And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there.

Luke 9:28, "He took Peter, John, and James and went up on the mountain to pray."

The life of Jesus was full of prayer. We read in Gospels that he prayed very often and in every occasion. He took time from His busy schedule to spend time with God alone. There were times in His life when Jesus and His disciples had no time even to eat food still we read that Jesus found time for prayer. He went on the mountains to pray. He sent the multitudes away and spent time in prayer. At times He prayed whole night. Before He chose His disciples, He prayed whole night. Before He faced big crowds, He spent time in prayer at night. Before He preached a sermon, He spent hours in prayer with the heavenly Father. This was the life of Jesus - A life full of prayer.

What is prayer after all? Prayer is the way of communication with God. Jesus knew the importance of prayer. He knew that how to move mountains through prayer. He knew that how to make whole day's strategy after discussing with the Father in prayer. I am sure, Jesus would have discussed with God, what to preach and what to say because very often He said, "I do not speak of my own but of the Father" as we read in John 12:49-50, "For I have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak. And I know that His command is everlasting life. Therefore, whatever I speak, just as the Father has told Me, so I speak."

Jesus also said in John 7:17-18 "If anyone wants to do His will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is from God or whether I speak on My own authority. He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but He who seeks the glory of the One who sent Him is true, and no unrighteousness is in Him." He spent His valuable time with the Father. He gave up His sleep night after nights and prayed. Not only when He was facing death before Him but even at times when crowds were cheering Him up and when He was in the height of His mission.

He gave an example through His life that how a weak person can do extraordinary miracles through prayer and with the help of God. We read again and again that where ever Jesus went, He healed all kinds of diseases, delivered those who were oppressed by devil, who were devil possessed and wiped away the tears of those who were in great pain and sorrow. How He could do it? Didn't He come in the form of fleshly, weak man? Yes, He was in flesh, yes, He was weak yet He knew the power of prayer. He spoke to His disciples in Mat 26:41 "Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."

When Jesus fasted and prayed for forty days, He returned in the power of the Spirit as we read in Luke 4:14-15, "Then Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and news of Him went out through all the surrounding region. And He taught in their synagogues, being glorified by all."

When Jesus being God in flesh Himself needed a life of prayer then how much more we need to pray and seek God every time. But today many do not spend time with God and that is the reason why we see defeated, beaten down and powerless lives of Christians. We live in misery, pain and with sicknesses not knowing how to drive these problems away from our lives. Why? Because we have not known the power of prayer. Because we have not learned to spend time with our heavenly Father. If we had only learned how to spend time with God, if we had only learned how to discuss our life's matters with God, if we had only learned what decisions we have to take, our world would have been a different world.

Yes, there is a powerful life with God. A life full of adventures, mighty and awesome deeds of God and full of blessings. You can have this wonderful life. You can achieve great things in your life just spending time with your heavenly Father.

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 8th Dec.. 2015

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
