The month of October reminds us black shadows of death, destruction, scary ghosts and spirits. Yes, I am talking about Halloween that is celebrated on 31st October every year. People in fear started all these customs to scare off the devil and ghosts which may lurk around their homes. But David says in Psa 23:4, "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me."These past four weeks we have seen the dark shadows of death lurking around our house. I can say that it was very hard and painful to go through all these experiences yet we had no fear of death. Because we knew that God is with us and that death is not the end of the story. Those who die in Christ will be in heaven and one day we can meet them in heaven. I was compelled to think about the fragileness of life. As I looked in the computer screen of ICU that was showing numbers of my dad's heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen level and respiration rate. Having no knowledge of medical field, I was amazed thinking that the respiration rate should be around 20/minute. It means if a person is unable to breath roughly twenty times in a minute he/she is gone. I thought, "So our lives are based on just twenty breaths..." Psalmist have said it perfectly in "Psa 144:4 Man is like a breath; His days are like a passing shadow." And also in Psa 104:29 "You hide Your face, they are troubled; You take away their breath, they die and return to their dust."It is true that death is inevitable but we can have eternal life through Christ Jesus who gave His precious life for every human being. We need not to die and go to hell. We can live by receiving forgiveness of our sins through the shed blood of Jesus. One day we all will die but if we have received Jesus as our Lord and Savior in our lives, we will enter into heaven. Jesus said in John 3:16-18, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."Today you can come to Jesus and accept Him as your Lord and Savior. You can get rid of your sins and live a holy life and at the end eternal life. When death knocks at your life's door, are you afraid to face it? Are you afraid thinking about your future? Come to Jesus. Repent from your sins and give your life to Jesus. He will forgive your sins and will give you eternal life. By the way, my dad is improving everyday. Please keep him in your prayers so that he could recover completely and live a healed and healthy life.
Halloween is around the corner and whole USA is going to celebrate it on 31st October. One day when I looked out side of my window I saw the Halloween decorations (demons, skeletons, spider web, pumpkin, witches, ghost, etc.) in the front house. It really shocked me since few months back the same people had lavishly decorated their house for Christmas. I am sure after a month or so the same people are going to decorate their house again for Christmas. This is not the only case but there are hundreds who are doing the same thing. How can it be that a person is celebrating for demons and the same time for Jesus? Bible says, ‘you cannot serve two masters, at the same time you cannot serve God and demons together’. Mat 6:24 "No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.” So according to Mat 6:24 if you say that you love God and you are a Christian and still celebrating Christmas and Halloween together then something must be wrong. It means either you do not love God and just pretending to be a good Christian or you are totally ignorant about it. Once when you dedicate your life to Jesus, God needs whole of you not a part of you. There is nothing something like living for God and simultaneously living for world together. You cannot live for God in one side and still indulge in the pleasures of this life both cannot go together and this kind of dedication is not acceptable in the sight of God. I still remember when I got saved on 3rd Nov. 1981 my life began to change. I was very fond of Hindi movies and songs. Within a week after my salvation I found that I could no longer hear the secular songs (movie songs). I felt such restlessness as one could feel during the high fever. Then I had no other choice but to quit it. So I quit hearing movie songs but still continued watching movies occasionally. As I was in Hostel for studies at that time I used to go with my friends to watch movies in theater. After my salvation I found that I could no longer enjoy the movies and I felt that I was wasting my time and money on it. Every time when my friends used to go for movie I told them, “I do not feel like going since it does not give me the pleasure and joy as it was giving before.” But my friends used to say, “how can you stay alone in this huge building since everybody is going for movie and it is not safe to stay here.” Since I was so scared to stay alone in that huge building I used to go with them. But God was constantly working in my life and I knew that God and devil could no longer go together. That was the time when I was in great dilemma whether I should continue watching movies or I should quit it. Once I was hearing the Radio message of Dr. D.G. S. Dhinakaran (Jesus Calls). It was year 1983 and Br. Dhinakaran said, “no one can serve two masters. You cannot serve God and devil together. If you think that you love God and want to live for God get rid of sin and sinful desires and fully get into the boat of Jesus. Nobody can ride in two boats together. You cannot put one leg in one boat and the other in another boat and still go safe without drowning.” That was an alarming message for me and I prayed then and there, ”Lord I do not know if it is ok in your sight to watch secular movies but if it is not good in your sight I am always ready to quit it but in only one condition i.e. if you can help me to quit it totally and that I may never go back from my promise then it would be fine. Lord you know that I am weak and I cannot stay in my promise by my human abilities but you need to help me out so that I may never watch another secular movie or serial in my life time.” God heard that prayer and I felt the great urge to quit movies and it was right thing to do and I did. I am glad to say that after 1983 Aug. I never watched a single movie or serial which was secular or not related to the Bible. I had many chances in my life when I was alone in my home and when I flipped the TV channels there was Hindi movies. Whenever I stopped for 1-2 minutes on those movie channels in those moments I heard Holy Spirit speaking very clearly to me, “your family members are not here and no one is watching you but God is watching you all the time.” I am so glad that God kept His promise and never allowed me to fall in trap. Yes there were many times when we have plenty of opportunities to get into sin but if you are a saved person Holy Spirit would definitely warn you and if you hear His voice you would always come out clean during those temptations and you could lead a holy life. If you are a saved person and once you’ve dedicated your life to Christ you should know how to stay clean and holy all the time. It is your commitment to God and it’s your obligation to stay in the commitment and stay faithful to your savior and master. Never betray Him (Jesus) by your sinful life style for which Jesus suffered and died on the Cross. Please never do it. Yes though you may be saved and spirit filled but there are areas in your life, which could be weak, and you might be trying to control it. You know your weaknesses and many times it looks pretty hard to clean those areas and lead a clean and holy life. We receive many such emails, which tells us that how they are going through defeat in their life and how they are struggling hard to stay clean. Some one wrote, “I do not want to live like Samson lived and fall over and over again, but I am so weak”. Another writes, “I am surfing pornographic sites and I am unable to control my actions”. Yet another writes “I am gay/lesbian and not able to come out of it”. One girl wrote “I had sex with many guys and I was about to kill myself because I was so hopeless and helpless”, Another guy wrote “I am a born again believer, I want to serve the Lord but I have a problem with sex. I always look for girls and women, I am writing this in misery and weeping” These letters were surely written with tears and pain and it really makes me cry. I would like to say to everyone who is going through such situations please don’t lose heart and don’t give up your hopes. There is nothing too hard for Jesus. He is able to help you out and clean your life. If you are not a saved person then first of all the most important thing is that you need the savior. You need salvation that is the only way out and without salvation holy life is not possible by any means. If you feel that you do not have personal relationship with Jesus Christ please pray the prayer, which is found at the end of this message. If you are sure that you are a saved person then you are a child of God and it is your right to receive holiness from God since He is your father and He is definitely willing to help you out. Sometimes miracles don’t happen instantaneously and sometimes answer of prayer doesn’t come so quickly as we expect. God has His own ways to work on situations, so keep praying till you receive your miracle. Keep knocking the door till God opens it for you. I believe that prayer can answer all and every problem and it was my own experience with different kind of problems. Some sins are so stubborn you cannot kick it out by one or two prayers but it takes months even years to eradicate it totally. Sometimes certain sin leaves and when you get careless about it, it returns with much fury and vengeance. So if that also happens don’t give up, keep praying and asking, “Lord I am so feeble to help myself out but you are strong. Help me to come out of this sin and help me to lead a holy life.” Lord will surely hear you and you will see remarkable changes in your life. Keep praying everyday and asking for His help and your help will surely come. Alright we were talking about festival of Halloween. I do not know how it was originated and whose idea it was to keep demons in front of the houses but it surely speaks about demons, witches and demonic things. You cannot drive demons with the help of devil but if you really want to get rid of demonic influence you need the help from Jesus. Many times people encourage their children to celebrate it because they think that it is fun to go door to door and collect candy. Well what you teach your children will certainly affect their lives. If you encourage them to see movies like Harry potter and other witchcraft related movies it would certainly drive them toward witchcraft, demons and devil. If you encourage your children to have drinking parties for fun it will surely make them drunkards. If you encourage your children to love the world and worldly things it would certainly drive them away from God. If you teach your children how to disrespect God (Jesus) they’ll certainly become atheist. It all depends on parents what they teach their children. Today what I am is simply because of my parent’s right guidance, I am so glad that my parents showed us the right path. They took us in good spiritual meetings. They taught us how to love Jesus and how to stay loyal to Him. It made a lot of difference in our lives. When Jesus came in, our family became a peaceful home. Our individual lives become peaceful. Jesus changed our house, which was once like hell, into heaven on earth. He taught us how to live in unity, how to experience the joy which world cannot give. Jesus taught us how to stay calm and peaceful in the time of horrible turmoil. Jesus showed us how to lead a holy life. Jesus showed us what career we need to choose. Not only this but He gives the hope for the future that one day we have a place in heaven. One day when we are going to close our eyes we will be in heaven. How? It is just not a fantasy or imagination of mind but because so far He led us and whatever He spoke it came true. Whatever ministry He told us to do He helped us to achieve those goals and even He helped us to find ways out in difficult circumstances. Yes my friend knowing Christ is not an emotional or man made imagination but it is a reality. Going heaven is not a fantasy or fairy tales but it is a real thing. Once you know Jesus as your savior and Lord, you know that you are not living in the land of fairies but you are really achieving your goals and you are constantly moving toward a glorious land which Jesus has promises for His people. John 14:1-3 "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. "In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.Are you sure about your destiny? Do you know for sure that you have a place in heaven? Are you peaceful and happy? If not come to the foot of the Cross and receive the free gift of Salvation for which Jesus came and died. Please pray this prayer with the bottom of your heart. Please don’t stop praying only once but you can keep praying this prayer till you have assurance of heaven. Lord Jesus, I do not know what my future will bring. I do not know where I am going to spend my eternity after death. Lord Jesus I believe that you died for me so that I can receive everlasting peace and joy. I am a sinner. I have done things, which is not right in your sight. I lived in sin and I am very depressed right now. I am too lonely and frustrated with my life. But I believe that you can change my situations. I believe that you are the Son of God and you came down in this earth to save me. Please come into my heart. Please forgive and forget my sins. Accept me today as I am. Wash me clean with your precious and priceless blood. Cleans me Lord from all wrongdoings. I accept you today as my Lord and Savior. I accept you as my all in all. Lord thank you for coming into my heart and giving me a place in heaven. I pray in Jesus name Amen.
As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
