Last week one eighteen year old young man named David Ludwig killed his girlfriend's parents and apparently abducted 14 year old girlfriend Kara Beth Borden. Finally police caught them 90 miles away when the vehicle he was driving crashed in a high speed chase. The reason for killing was that girl's parents objected when the girl was out all night with him. According to the news both David and Kara were hailed from a very devote Christian family. Both were home schooled so that they could be protected from the evils of secular world.

But you can see that being in a devote Christian family or being home schooled did not change a person. He killed two people just because things did not work out as he wanted. You can see people from good families but still living a bad life. You can find people who are highly educated, very knowledgeable, in high positions but bound with different kinds of addictions and sinful habits. You may even find people who are well dressed, well behaved and gentle looking people yet their lives are nothing better than filth. Our well education, good behavioral training, our good knowledge can help us in our life still it cannot really change our lives.

The sinful nature that we inherited from Adam and Eve still flows in our veins and very often it bubbles up on surface. Jesus said in John 8:34-36, "Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed."

In Jesus' own words if you are living in sin, you are a slave of sin. A sinner cannot live with God in his family but a person who obtained the title of God's child. Despite all your good education, high position and well-mannered disciplined lifestyle you still need to become sons/daughters of the family of God. So that you could be free from all bondages, addictions and sinful nature. Bible says in John 1:12-13, "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God." If you want to live a holy life, you must be born in the family of God.

God made Adam and Eve to leave the Garden of Eden when they sinned against God. After that they had no access to God as they had before. But God made a way for dying humanity and gave His only Son to die for us so that we could come out of our sins and have fellowship with the holy God. Also live a holy life and enter into His kingdom. Today He wants to give eternal life to every person. Jesus said in John 3:14-15, "And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life."

Moses lifted the bronze serpent at that time when Israelites sinned against God and God sent fiery serpents among them. Many died because serpents bit them. When they repented God gave the plan of deliverance for them to Moses. In Num 21:9 we read, "So Moses made a bronze serpent, and put it on a pole; and so it was, if a serpent had bitten anyone, when he looked at the bronze serpent, he lived." In the place of death and destruction when they looked at the lifted up serpent, life came in their bodies. In the same way Jesus was lifted up for us on the cruel cross so that whomever looks toward Him should not perish but live forever. When a dying/dead person looks toward the lifted up Jesus he receives the salvation of his soul.

In the wilderness Israelites had no other choice except to look toward the lifted fiery serpent otherwise embrace death. Today also we have two choices before us. Either look towards the slain Lamb of God or embrace eternal death. What would you choose?

Witchcraft could Cost you Everything!

In the book of Acts 19th chapter we read about an incident which took place when Paul was ministering in a place called Ephesus. Acts 19:11-20 tells us, "Now God worked unusual miracles by the hands of Paul, so that even handkerchiefs or aprons were brought from his body to the sick, and the diseases left them and the evil spirits went out of them. Then some of the itinerant Jewish exorcists took it upon themselves to call the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, "We exorcise you by the Jesus whom Paul preaches." Also there were seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, who did so. And the evil spirit answered and said, "Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you?" Then the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, overpowered them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded. This became known both to all Jews and Greeks dwelling in Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified. And many who had believed came confessing and telling their deeds. Also, many of those who had practiced magic brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all. And they counted up the value of them, and it totaled fifty thousand pieces of silver. So the word of the Lord grew mightily and prevailed."

When seven sons of Sceva saw mighty miracles taking place in the ministry of Paul they wanted the same power through their witchcraft power. You may be aware of it that witchcraft power is the opposite power of the Holy Spirit or God's power. Those who practice witchcraft they relay on the power of devil or demons. But Paul was filled with the Holy Spirit and God's mighty power was flowing through his life so mighty miracles took place in his ministry. Now these people thought that they could use the name of Jesus and perform the same miracles that God did through Paul. But they were mistaken. As soon as they commanded evil spirit to leave the person, who was possessed with evil spirit, he leaped on them, overpowered them and made them to flee wounded and naked.

Power of devil or witchcraft does this to a person. It will rip you off and make you flee wounded and naked. Once I heard that those who practice witchcraft, first they have control over demons but later demons overpower them and use them as they want. But God's power that a person receives through Holy Spirit is completely different. Bible tells us that when Jesus was filled with the Holy Spirit, He went around and did good as we read in Acts 10:38, "how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him."

Many think that all these things happened in the time of Bible but now it does not happen anymore. But it is not so. Once I read a true story. There was an evangelist lived in a small village of south India. He was very zealous for Jesus. He went around and started preaching about Jesus in that small village. Many villagers got healed and turned to Christ. There was another man in that village who was a sorcerer. When he saw that all the people were going to the preacher and people stopped coming to him, he got very angry. He did witchcraft and sent evil spirits in the house of the evangelist to kill him and his family. After an hour later those evil spirits came back screaming and saying, "we could not enter into that house because there is a fire hedge around that house." So the sorcerer got very angry and sent another powerful evil spirit. This time when evil spirit could not enter the house of evangelist, it came back and killed the sorcerer's cow.

The evangelist had the protection of the Holy Spirit and because of that evil spirit could not harm him. But how terrible it is for those who practice witchcraft and use the power of demons. They play with fire and bring destruction for themselves.

One night my brother was very sick. My sister and I were praying for him. As I laid my hands on him and praying, God told me, "A person is doing witchcraft and sending evil spirits to your home. Sent them back to his house in the name of Jesus." Very often I heard people preaching that we should send the evil spirits to hell but I had never heard from any preachers, evangelists or prophets saying to send the evil spirit back from where it came. So when I heard those words from God, I was a bit nervous. And I thought, "O Jesus, that person has kids, why I should send evil spirit back and trouble their lives?" Sometimes we think that we are smarter than God, don't we? Thinking it will bring trouble in their lives, I commanded those evil spirits to go to hell in the name of Jesus. And it seemed as if my brother was feeling better. So he went to sleep and I also.

I woke up in the morning and I had no idea what happened to him in the night. At night he could hardly sleep even for half an hour. He was awake the whole night and sat in pain. He had high fever and because of fever his skin and eyes became red. I started praying to God and asking what the solution is for his sickness? Suddenly I heard God saying again, "If you take authority over those evil spirits in the name of Jesus and send them back from where it had come, your brother will be completely healed." As soon as I heard those words, I jumped and stood up and ran to my brother's room. I told my brother and other family members that this is what God has told. We all laid our hands over him and prayed in the name of Jesus and commanded evil spirits to go back to the person's home which God showed me. When I opened my eyes after praying, his fever that was above 103 degrees came down to normal. His skin became completely normal and he was healed immediately. It really surprised us greatly.

Are you practicing witchcraft and sending curses, spells, evil spirits on others, repent from your sins and turn to the living God. He will forgive you. In Ephesus when other magicians heard, they brought their books together and burned them. They calculated the value of books, and it totaled fifty thousand pieces of silver. Yes, my friend, turn to the living God and find life and blessings in your life. Witchcraft and devil will one day destroy your life.

I am going to pray for those who are afflicted by witchcraft power or demonic power and God will deliver you. Dear Lord Jesus, we come to your holy presence for those who are tormented by demonic powers and witchcraft powers. There are many who have curse or spell on them. We come against all these powers of darkness in the name of Jesus and rebuke every evil power and command them to leave these people right now. We break every witchcraft power from these precious lives in the name of Jesus. We bring every curse, every spell and every bondage under the blood of Jesus and cancel it in the name of Jesus. Lord Jesus, let your blessings fall on each and every person reading this message. Let your mighty power flow, protect them, cover them and keep them in your arms. They may never experience any demonic powers in their lives. We pray in Jesus name, Amen.

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 9th Dec. 2008

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 11th Nov. 2008

Printed Version of the Magazine
