We are finally at the end of the year 2005. What a year it was! For my family and me it was triumph over tragedy. For us it was victory over death and evil witchcraft powers. We literally faced death and won the battle by the mighty power of God. I know that this year was completely devastating for many around the world. This year started with greatest catastrophic tragedy in Asia - the Tsunami. And many tragedies followed after that in different parts of the world. We never thought those tragic waves will travel to our home too.

As many of you know that my dad was in the hospital. On 3rd October he had respiratory arrest and he was in coma. Doctors told us that his chance of recovery was nil. As long as I will live, I will not forget the day when doctor came in, took my dad's head in his hand and swung up and down and said "See, his neck is stiff... it means either he had a massive stroke or meningitis... no other possibilities". Neurologist came and said, "though the x-ray and CT scan of brain does not show anything yet, I believe that he had massive stroke and there is no hope of his recovery." They told us that there was no use of proceeding further or putting him on ventilator. But in our minds we all refused to take the words of doctors. My brother insisted them to proceed further and put him on ventilator. Yet we had no idea what will happen next, we trusted in God and His promises and in His mighty power. We desperately needed a miracle from the loving hands of Jesus. I can say it was hard and very difficult time for all of us. We felt all alone standing at the shores of Red Sea where no hope was visible for us.

Moses also stood at the shores of Red Sea and desperately cried out to God for help. He was in desperate need of a miracle as there was no escape route. In front of Moses and Israelites there was mighty Red Sea and in rear there was Egyptian army rushing toward them as a giant wave to swallow them. Death was inevitable for them. But what a mighty and awesome God is ours. He is able to part the Red Sea and make a way in the midst of it. He is able to calm down those raging waves that come against us.

He did it for Moses and He did it for us. My dad recovered and came back home a month ago. His health improved greatly and rapidly. Even he remembers everything except the two months of his ordeal in the hospital. What a day it was when he came back home. We rejoiced and praised God for the mighty deeds God did in our lives. How much celebration was there when one person was saved from the jaws of death. I cannot completely imagine how much celebration and joy goes on when millions around the world get saved from the jaws of death by the precious blood of Jesus. God showed us only a tiny glimpse of that glorious celebration and joy. Jesus came in this world to give us that joy by giving us life. He came to save us from spiritual death and that was the reason why He said in John 5:24, "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life."

When we are concluding this year, we are thankful for the wonderful things God has done in our lives. I will say with the Psalmist Psa 116:8, "For You have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, and my feet from falling." The same God who did mighty things for Moses and others is able to deliver you from all your troubles. Are you in a desperate situation today where there is no hope for you? Look to Jesus, He can help!

God's Promise for 2006

By Sherly Isaac

This year is the one when God's promises are going to fulfill in your life. Has God spoken something to you? Have you waited so long to see that promise come to pass, this is the year when God will fulfill those unfulfilled promises.

Those who have received promises of God know what it is to wait until God fulfills His promises. There is a time for every promise to fulfill. Promises does not fulfill according to the timeframe of human being but according to the time of God. There may be times when it seems those promises are impossible to come to pass. But the Bible says that God is a promise keeping God. What He has spoken, He will do it.

Joshua a young man, assistant of Moses worked diligently with Moses. When God called Moses on the mountain, Joshua accompanied him. "The LORD spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. And he would return to the camp, but his servant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, did not depart from the tabernacle" (Exo 33:11). Joshua was a man who loved to be in the presence of God. When the time came for them to enter into Promised Land, Moses sent twelve men to spy out the land. One of them was Joshua who went to spy out the land. When they returned they explained to the Israelites about the beautiful land saying, "It truly flows with milk and honey". They went on explaining that people of that land were strong and live in fortified houses moreover there were giants. Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, "Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it." But the men who had gone up with him said, "We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we." And they gave the children of Israel a bad report of the land which they had spied out, saying, "The land through which we have gone as spies is a land that devours its inhabitants, and all the people whom we saw in it are men of great stature. There we saw the giants (the descendants of Anak came from the giants); and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight. Num (13:30-33)"

When people heard those words, they got very upset. They wept and even thought of selecting a leader and returning to Egypt. They refused to enter into Promised Land. Joshua and Caleb stood before them and pleaded with them to trust in God and not to rebel against God but to no avail. They agitated God so badly that God was about to destroy them completely. But Moses pleaded and pleaded with God and finally God said, "I have pardoned them but those who put me in test ten times and did not believe in me will die in this wilderness."

You can see that when two men stood up for God, ten stood up against them to destroy all the plans of God. But unfortunately they destroyed themselves. Forty years they went around those mountains until all the rebellious people died. They could not enter into the beautiful land, which God promised for them. But that day God promised with Joshua and Caleb, two men who went to spy out the land and brought good report of the land that they will enter into the Promised Land. Promise, which God gave them, did not come to pass overnight. It took forty years to see it happen! Forty years! Oh, isn't it a long period of time? But yet God fulfilled His promises.

Very often I heard messages about Moses' wilderness experience of forty years before he started his ministry and Jesus' wilderness experience of forty days before He started His ministry. But never heard about Joshua's wilderness experience of forty years before his ministry started. Joshua waited forty years to see the promise of God come to pass in his life. It was just eleven days' journey from Horeb by way of Mount Seir to Kadesh Barnea according to Deu 1:2. They would have dreamed of new life in the Promised Land within one month but their dreams were shattered when few people could not stand for God. Yes, promises are not for unbelievers but for those who believe in Him and trust in Him. Unbelievers have no part with God. Paul says in 2 Cor 6:14, "Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?"

When forty years completed, God instructed Moses to inaugurate Joshua who could lead Israelites into Promised Land. Finally the days of wilderness was over and Joshua led Israelites into the Promised Land. Those promises, which God gave to Moses and Joshua, came to pass in the appointed time.

Yes, God will fulfill His promises for your life in this coming year. Your days of wilderness are over.

Second thing He will do is to give you victory over everything. When Joshua entered into the Promised Land, he faced battle in front of him. God gave him victory over every battle. There were times when God Himself fought for them and gave them victory. There were times when human ability was not enough to conquer those battles yet God made them victorious. This coming year God is going to give you victory over everything. He will fight for you and will make you victorious.

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 8th Dec.. 2015

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
