Moses was the greatest leader and prophet of Jews as we read in the Bible in Deu 34:10, "But since then there has not arisen in Israel a prophet like Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face." In Old Testament we do not see people gathering as a congregation until the time of Moses.

Though God appointed Moses to lead Israelites out of Egypt yet we see various problems in that early congregation. We can see clashes between God appointed leader and worldly congregation members. At times they spoke ill of Moses and even of God. There were times when the whole congregation was ready to stone Moses. There were times when the whole congregation rebelled against God and refused to go in the Promised Land. There were times when they tried to overthrow the God appointed leader and choose a leader who was likeminded. They were not only murmuring all the way but also sinning against God and were involved in illegal activities.

Moses was so upset with their murmuring and complaining that often he prayed that his life must be taken away from this earth. He pleads with God and says in Num 11:14-15, "I am not able to bear all these people alone, because the burden is too heavy for me. If You treat me like this, please kill me here and now; if I have found favor in Your sight; and do not let me see my wretchedness!" Not only Moses was upset but God was Himself upset with them and He says in Num 14:27, "How long shall I bear with this evil congregation who complain against Me?"

You can see a congregation with whom God Himself was angry. And how challenging and how difficult it would have been for Moses to work in a congregation such like this. But the Bible tells us that even in that situation Moses was faithful to God and sincerely worked for the welfare of the congregation. Though he was rejected by his own congregation yet he pleaded for them so that their lives be spared and may not be destroyed. That is the heart of a true servant of God.

When Jesus called people to follow Him, He simply told them that this is not an easy task but a very difficult job. Jesus said in Mark 8:34, "When He had called the people to Himself, with His disciples also, He said to them, "Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me."

Every person who desires to follow Christ truly has to go through persecution and hardship. It is the way of cross not the bed of roses. Paul writes about Epaphroditus in Phil 2:30 that, "because for the work of Christ he came close to death, not regarding his life, to supply what was lacking in your service toward me." Many were killed and were tortured for their faith in Christ. Even all the disciples of Jesus Christ were killed. It may surprise you that most of them were killed by religious authorities of that time.

Even today in the 21st century these things have not changed but remains the same. There are ongoing clashes between godly people and ungodly people. That is one of the biggest reasons why we do not see unity and peace in our congregations. If we want peace, unity and one mind, we need to repent and turn to Christ. Unless Jesus Christ comes and dwells in our hearts we cannot see peace and unity among people.

Many of you might have heard about the persecution going on in the various parts of India. Last week more than 25 Christians were brutally beaten up by Hindu extremists in Bhopal, the capital city of Madhya Pradesh.. They were praying in a home. Some of the Pastors and people were well known to us. They loved the Lord and were ready to do anything for Him. You can read about the details of attack Indian Christians injured... Or click here:

This is not the first incidence in Madhya Pradesh but there were series of attacks. Even in the last week there were three separate incidences of attack on Christians. It is really shameful for largest democratic nation like India where freedom is vanishing in a rapid pace. But isn't it the human nature of fallen man?

Years ago when missionaries went and preached in the remote parts of Africa, they found out that people were cannibals. Many missionaries were killed and were sacrificed by local people. But they preached the Gospel to them and slowly people of Africa started accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Their lives changed and they started living as civilized people.

One day a poor man was sitting outside of his hut and was reading his Bible. There was a pot before him in which he was cooking something to eat. A foreigner who was traveling looked to him very carefully and asked what he was reading? The man told him that, it was Bible that he was reading. The traveling foreigner started laughing at him and making fun of his belief. The man listened very carefully then he pointed towards the pot on fire and said, "If Jesus had not changed my life, you would have been in this pot by this time!"

Even in the Bible we can see outrage of religious leaders when many turned to Christ. Apostle Paul was zealous in his mission to bind and kill Christians. But a day came in his life when he met Jesus and it changed his life completely. Acts 9th chapter talks his meeting with Christ and the beginning of great transformation, which came in his life. We read in Acts 9:1-6, "Then Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest and asked letters from him to the synagogues of Damascus, so that if he found any who were of the Way, whether men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem. As he journeyed he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone around him from heaven. Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?" And he said, "Who are You, Lord?" Then the Lord said, "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. It is hard for you to kick against the goads." So he, trembling and astonished, said, "Lord, what do You want me to do?" Then the Lord said to him, "Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do."

What religion could not do for Paul was done in one moment when he met Jesus. No matter what your sins are, no matter how big or small they may be, Jesus can forgive and forget all your sins. When He steps in one's life, it would never be the same again. Jesus came for the very purpose to give us a reconciled life with God and forgiveness of our sins. If you have not yet invited Jesus in your life, please pray this prayer with me:

Lord Jesus, I am a sinner. Please forgive and forget all my sins and cleanse me with your precious blood. Today, I accept you as my Lord and Savior. Please change my life and make me a loving person. Thank you for hearing my prayers. I give you all the glory. I pray in Jesus name, amen.

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 8th Dec.. 2015

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
