Long back in India there was a notorious robber. He was very much expert in this work of robbery and in fooling the police. Police could not capture him. Months after months he robbed big business men, killed several of them and did much harm to the society. Hearing his name even stony heart people trembled in their shoes. Police tried everything to capture him but failed miserably. Many months later police came to know the reason of this particular person becoming a robber. This man was born and raised in a very well to do family. After finishing his Engineering graduation he joined in masters program. Finished his master’s degree in Engineering with high marks. A very highly educated man, but wherever he went for job he found all doors shut on his face. Many asked for heavy amount in bribe to offer him a job.He desperately searched for a job but his dreams were shattered, as he could not find a job. When he realized that without giving bribe he couldn’t get a job, his desperation became frustration. He took guns in his hand and became a robber. With his high intellect he planned all his robbery and was able to fool police.Life’s problems make us bitter and it is more difficult for a person who does not know God to stand in that situation. When real life problems come, good education of yours may not help you but God can. Those who trust in the Lord Jesus get help in time of trouble.Everyday we receive prayer requests that are sometimes so desperate that makes us cry and plead with God for divine help from heaven. Some would write, “I am about to lose my car, that is the only means of transport for me. I have no money to purchase school supplies for my kids. There is hardly any food left in my home.” Some would write, “creditors are on my door and I have no money to pay for crucial surgery.” One another person wrote, “Home owner told us to vacate the house within 3 days because we could not pay the rent.” Oh, the desperate and heart breaking prayer requests.But the Bible tells us in Psalm 34:5, “They looked to Him and were radiant, And their faces were not ashamed.” Psalmist also tells us in Psalm 37: 18-19, “The LORD knows the days of the upright, And their inheritance shall be forever. They shall not be ashamed in the evil time, And in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.” Dear brothers and sister, you may be facing desperate situation in your life today. It is possible that you are not seeing any hope, but look to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob; He will wipe away your tears. Trust in Him and He will not allow you to be ashamed. He will send help in time.
Deu 18:18, "I will raise up for them a Prophet like you from among their brethren, and will put My words in His mouth, and He shall speak to them all that I command Him."God promised Moses that, He will raise a prophet like him who will speak what God will put in His mouth. When it is said, “A prophet like Moses”, let us see what qualities Moses possessed. We see so many things in the life of Moses when he led Israelites as prophet. He heard from God and spoke what God said to Him. He worked as a mouthpiece of God to Israelites. He was faithful in conveying the message of God to people.That is the quality of a true prophet. A true prophet will always hear from the Lord and bring a message from God for people instead of speaking the garbage of his/her mind. Second thing we see in the life of Moses that whenever Israelites sinned against God and made Him angry, Moses pleaded with God. There were times when God decided to kill all the Israelites because they severely provoked Him to anger. But Moses stood between God and Israelites pleading and pleading for their lives until God heard his prayers. Even Moses went without food for forty days pleading before God. He played a role of mediator between God and people.The prophecy of “A prophet like Moses” was fulfilled in the life of Jesus. Jesus has many similarities with the life of Moses but as a prophet He fulfilled exactly the same qualities Moses had. Jesus spoke the messages which father gave Him. Very often He quoted the scriptures spoken by Moses and other prophets. More than that, you will not find any contraction in the message of Jesus and in the messages of Old Testament prophets. Message of Bible is the same because the same God who led the Old and New Testament prophets give it.In Isaiah 59:16 “He saw that there was no man, And wondered that there was no intercessor; Therefore His own arm brought salvation for Him; And His own righteousness, it sustained Him.”When God saw that there was no man who can stand between God and man and plead with God to deliver His people, He sent His own son Jesus. Jesus not only pleaded when He was in this world but also continually making intercession for believers as we read in Rom 8:34 and Heb 7:25.Jesus is standing between God and us and interceding for us so that we may not perish but enter into eternal life. He is standing as mediator and pleading for our cause. How much He loves us and wants to save our lives. You might have failed Him, might have done big mistakes in your life but turn to Him. Repent form your sins. He will save you. He will forgive you and make you a new person. If you have backslidden from His will still you can repent and come to Jesus. He is continually pleading for you. Will you look to Him and give your life to Him?
As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
