Once I saw in TV the true story of a man who raised a bear as his child. The bear grew up in his care. When that bear grew up, he thought of leaving him in jungle so that he could start an independent life. He observed the bear from a distance. One day he found that someone shot and killed the bear. Because the bear was so attached to human beings, whenever he saw a man or woman, he would go near them. But people did not know about the bear whether he would harm them or not. When someone shot and killed the bear, it broke the heart of the man who raised him. A few years later he raised another female bear. This time he was very cautious about her upbringing. He gave the bear full training how she could survive in the jungle without getting killed. Finally the day came when he freed her in the jungle. That bear not only survived but also brought with her few cubs many months later.

Christian life is also like this. The day you will say, "Lord, I am ready to work for you", that very day God will put you in school and will start your training. He will teach you how to survive in this evil world when He sends you among wolves as sheep. He will teach you surviving skills. He will allow you to learn how to die for self and for the world and to live for Christ. He will discard unwanted things from your life. Oh, it is a very hard training, but at the end, you will be ready to do soldier's work for Christ.

David loved God when he was very young. He was ready to do anything for Him. God saw the heart of David and delighted to take him as His worker. But the day David got anointed to become king in Israel, his troubles started. He had to run for his life. Saul, the king of Israel became his enemy and wanted to kill him at any cost. He searched for David everywhere. He even killed priests and those who helped David. For more than ten years David ran for his life. You may say, "Every person goes through difficulties in his/her life. So what is the big deal in the life of David?" Yes, it is true that every person goes through difficulties, but regarding those who walk in the ways of God, God delivers them. God was with David and neither Saul nor anybody else could catch him or destroy him till his last breath. Every time God protected him and brought him out of his troubles. Bible says in Psa 34:6-7, "This poor man cried out, and the LORD heard him and saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the LORD encamps all around those who fear Him and delivers them."

Are you walking with God and have difficulties in your life? Have you seen troubles after troubles, tears after tears, unending problems in your life because you have given your life to Jesus? Do not lose your heart. He will not leave you nor forsake you. He will uphold you with His right hand and give you grace to come out of all your troubles victoriously. What God has promised, He will fulfill. Though David lost his hopes of becoming king, yet a time came when God made him king. Bible tells us that David told Jonathan in 1 Sam 20:3, "...But truly, as the LORD lives and as your soul lives, there is but a step between me and death." In that circumstance, David was unable to think about God's promise for his life. He was more interested to save his life rather than becoming a king at that moment.

Is it not our cry at times? Very often our problems overwhelm us and we start thinking about our immediate survival rather than the promises of God. But God does not forget His promises. What He promised He fulfilled in the life of David. God will do the same for you. He will not forget His promise for your life.

Prayer Answering God!

By Sherly Isaac

Bible speaks how God answered the prayers of Elijah in 1st King 18th chapter. It was the time when Israel drifted from the true God and started worshipping god named Baal. Elijah challenged Baal's prophets and the Israelites in 1 Ki 18:22-25, "Then Elijah said to the people, "I alone am left a prophet of the LORD; but Baal's prophets are four hundred and fifty men. Therefore let them give us two bulls; and let them choose one bull for themselves, cut it in pieces, and lay it on the wood, but put no fire under it; and I will prepare the other bull, and lay it on the wood, but put no fire under it. Then you call on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the LORD; and the God who answers by fire, He is God." So all the people answered and said, "It is well spoken." Now Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, "Choose one bull for yourselves and prepare it first, for you are many; and call on the name of your god, but put no fire under it."

Further we read in 1 Ki 18:26-29, "So they took the bull which was given them, and they prepared it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even till noon, saying, "O Baal, hear us!" But there was no voice; no one answered. Then they leaped about the altar that they had made. And so it was, at noon, that Elijah mocked them and said, "Cry aloud, for he is a god; either he is meditating, or he is busy, or he is on a journey, or perhaps he is sleeping and must be awakened." So they cried aloud, and cut themselves, as was their custom, with knives and lances, until the blood gushed out on them. And when midday was past, they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice. But there was no voice; no one answered, no one paid attention."

Baal's prophets cried out to their gods but there was no answer. Their prayers were not answered even though they were calling their god with all sincerity and with great hope.

But contrary to that, when we read further we can see how God miraculously answered the prayers of Elijah. We read in 1 Ki 18:30-39, "Then Elijah said to all the people, "Come near to me." So all the people came near to him. And he repaired the altar of the LORD that was broken down. And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, to whom the word of the LORD had come, saying, "Israel shall be your name." Then with the stones he built an altar in the name of the LORD; and he made a trench around the altar large enough to hold two seahs of seed. And he put the wood in order, cut the bull in pieces, and laid it on the wood, and said, "Fill four waterpots with water, and pour it on the burnt sacrifice and on the wood." Then he said, "Do it a second time," and they did it a second time; and he said, "Do it a third time," and they did it a third time. So the water ran all around the altar; and he also filled the trench with water. And it came to pass, at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near and said, "LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that You are God in Israel and I am Your servant, and that I have done all these things at Your word. "Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that You are the LORD God, and that You have turned their hearts back to You again." Then the fire of the LORD fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood and the stones and the dust, and it licked up the water that was in the trench. Now when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces; and they said, "The LORD, He is God! The LORD, He is God!"

What a difference! The prayer of Elijah was answered while the prayers of Baal's prophets were not answered. The reason was that Elijah directed his prayer to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob while Baal's prophets called their so-called god Baal for help. God of the Bible is the prayer answering God. He not only answers prayer but also helps us in our troubles and rescues us from our troubling situations.

I remember once my brother was very sick. He had high fever. That time my dad got retired and we had no money to see a private doctor or to go to any good hospital. My mom got much worried about him and his sickness. There was Jesus Calls magazine in our home. My mom heard about it that many got healed even by putting those magazines on their body and prayed. In desperation my mom put one of the magazines on my brother's body and prayed with great burden saying, "Lord Jesus, people say that you heal even those who touch this book, please heal my son...." And miracle of miracles, my brother got better. His fever left him and he got complete healing in few days. Bible tells us that God answers prayer and does mighty miracles. In Acts 19:11-12 we read, "Now God worked unusual miracles by the hands of Paul, so that even handkerchiefs or aprons were brought from his body to the sick, and the diseases left them and the evil spirits went out of them." And also in Acts 5:15, "so that they brought the sick out into the streets and laid them on beds and couches, that at least the shadow of Peter passing by might fall on some of them."

Are you in need of your prayers to be answered? Call upon the name of Jesus. He can do wonders for you. He will answer your prayers and deliver you from all your trouble.

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 8th Dec.. 2015

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
