I was watching in TV the expedition of the Australian mountaineer, Lincoln Hall who was left to die on mount Everest in the last week of May. While coming back from summit he developed cerebral edema - swelling in brain due to lack of oxygen. The Sherpas examined him and declared that he cannot survive. At one point they poked his eyes to see whether he is still alive. When they assumed that he will not live, they took off his sleeping bag, oxygen and the other stuffs and left him on the snowy mountains. At that time Lincoln Hall did not respond to the call of the Sherpas, but in the middle of night he woke up and tried to remain awake till morning. In the morning he was found alive. We can only imagine how happy his wife and his two teenage sons would have felt in their hearts with a sigh of relief and happiness when their agony turned into joy.

When I was watching him alive and well it reminded me of the incident of last fall when my dad was very sick and doctors gave up all hope of his survival. Even on 2nd Oct, the day before he was put in ventilator, God promised that He will bring my dad back home alive, healed and healthy. The days and weeks following were hard on us and it seemed as if the promises of God may not come true. But God fulfilled His promise and brought him back healed and healthy though it took more than two months. What a mighty and great God we have who wipes away all our tears. What a wonderful heavenly Father He is! He is so faithful to fulfill His promises. Though at times we fail Him, still He is faithful (2 Tim 2:13) and His faithfulness endures forever.

In this father's day I want to remind you that there is a God who cares for you and wants to fill your hearts with great joy. He wants to turn your sorrows and mourning into joy, the joy that will never end. Jesus said in John 16:24, "Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full." Psalmist says in Psa 34:22, "The LORD redeems the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate." And also in Psa 68:5-6, "A father of the fatherless, a defender of widows, Is God in His holy habitation. God sets the solitary in families; He brings out those who are bound into prosperity; But the rebellious dwell in a dry land."

The same God called Abraham to become father of all those who believe in Him. Though the promise of a child was hard to swallow for Abraham and Sarah yet God fulfilled His promise in due season. And Bible confirms in Rom 4:16 that He became the father of those who put their trust in the God of Bible. As we read, "Therefore it is of faith that it might be according to grace, so that the promise might be sure to all the seed, not only to those who are of the law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all." God wanted that all of us be righteous children like Abraham. When the Pharisees told Jesus that, "Abraham is our father." in John 8:39-41, Jesus said to them, "If you were Abraham's children, you would do the works of Abraham. But now you seek to kill Me, a Man who has told you the truth which I heard from God. Abraham did not do this. You do the deeds of your father." Further Jesus told them in John 8:44 "You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it."

In this father's day I want you to think seriously whose children you are? Are you the seed of Abraham or of devil? If you are not yet a child of Abraham, come to Jesus, accept Him as your Lord and Savior and become a righteous generation to inherit the everlasting reward.

We wish all fathers out there a very happy and blessed Father's Day. A very special greeting card is waiting for you. Just click here

The Emotional Reunion

By Sherly Isaac

Gen 48:11 And Israel said to Joseph, "I had not thought to see your face; but in fact, God has also shown me your offspring!"

Joseph was in a strange land because he was sold to the Ishmaelites and was taken to Egypt. But in that land God prospered him and made him great. He became a father to Pharaoh the king of Egypt. Pharaoh arranged his marriage. When he got two kids, he put their names Manasseh and Ephraim saying in Gen 41:51-52, Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh: "For God has made me forget all my toil and all my father's house." And the name of the second he called Ephraim: "For God has caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction."

Joseph went through a series of tragedies, first he was sold by his own brothers as they hated him because of his dreams. Then Joseph was accused falsely by his master's wife and he was put in prison. If we think in a natural sense, there was no chance for his dreams to come to pass. Because not only was he a slave in a strange land but now he was a prisoner in that land. So there appeared to be no chance that he could come out of the prison ever so that his dreams may come true. Now what was the dream of Joseph? His dream was that his brothers, father and mother came down and bowed before him. We read in Gen 37:7-11, "There we were, binding sheaves in the field. Then behold, my sheaf arose and also stood upright; and indeed your sheaves stood all around and bowed down to my sheaf." And his brothers said to him, "Shall you indeed reign over us? Or shall you indeed have dominion over us?" So they hated him even more for his dreams and for his words. Then he dreamed still another dream and told it to his brothers, and said, "Look, I have dreamed another dream. And this time, the sun, the moon, and the eleven stars bowed down to me." So he told it to his father and his brothers; and his father rebuked him and said to him, "What is this dream that you have dreamed? Shall your mother and I and your brothers indeed come to bow down to the earth before you?" And his brothers envied him, but his father kept the matter in mind."

On the other side Jacob the father of Joseph thought that some wild animal killed Joseph because his brothers showed him his colored coat dipped in blood. Bible tells us that Jacob was completely heartbroken that no one could comfort him. We read in Gen 37:35, "And all his sons and all his daughters arose to comfort him; but he refused to be comforted, and he said, "For I shall go down into the grave to my son in mourning." Thus his father wept for him." Jacob cried and cried and had no consolation.

But a day came when the unexpected happened. Jacob lifted his eyes and saw carts coming to take him to Egypt. At first he did not believe when Joseph's brothers told him about Joseph that he was still alive but he believed seeing the carts. We read in Gen 45:25-27, "Then they went up out of Egypt, and came to the land of Canaan to Jacob their father. And they told him, saying, "Joseph is still alive, and he is governor over all the land of Egypt." And Jacob's heart stood still, because he did not believe them. But when they told him all the words which Joseph had said to them, and when he saw the carts which Joseph had sent to carry him, the spirit of Jacob their father revived."

Then Bible says further in Gen 45:28, 'Then Israel said, "It is enough. Joseph my son is still alive. I will go and see him before I die."' How happy he would have felt in his heart. The son whom he had long forgotten as a dead man now he heard that he was still alive. And a day came when Jacob arrived in Egypt and Joseph also made ready his chariot and went up to Goshen to meet his father Israel; and he presented himself to him, and fell on his neck and wept on his neck a good while. And Israel said to Joseph, "Now let me die, since I have seen your face, because you are still alive.(Gen 46:29-30)"

Long back devil had stolen us from our heavenly Father. Because of our sins we have no access to our heavenly father. We are lost. But Jesus came in this world, died on the cruel cross and shed His precious blood so that He could unite us with the Father. Bible says in John 1:12-13, "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God."

I pray that in this Father's Day, you could come back to Father's house and become His child.

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 8th Dec.. 2015

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
