Psa 46:1-7, "God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; though its waters roar and be troubled, Though the mountains shake with its swelling. There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God, The holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High. God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved; God shall help her, just at the break of dawn. The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved; He uttered His voice, the earth melted. The LORD of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge."Psalmist talks about the goodness of God that no matter what trouble a child of God has to face, there is help from God. Every person goes through difficult times, crisis and impossible situations. But the difference for children of God is that they are not alone but God is there to help them and fight for them. Bible tells us about Moses - a man whom God sent to bring Israelites out of Egypt. When he stood before Pharaoh the king of Egypt to talk that, let Israelites go out to worship their God, Pharaoh got very angry and commanded the taskmasters to make the task of Israelites more difficult by giving them hard work. When problem increased in the lives of Israelites, they said to Moses and Aaron in Exo 5:21, "Let the LORD look on you and judge, because you have made us abhorrent in the sight of Pharaoh and in the sight of his servants, to put a sword in their hand to kill us." God sent Moses to talk with Pharaoh and it brought more trouble for Israelites that made Moses a bad person in the sight of Israelites. But Moses looked toward God as we read in Exo 5:22-23 So Moses returned to the LORD and said, "Lord, why have You brought trouble on this people? Why is it You have sent me? For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in Your name, he has done evil to this people; neither have You delivered Your people at all." And God replied him in Exo 6:1, "Now you shall see what I will do to Pharaoh. For with a strong hand he will let them go, and with a strong hand he will drive them out of his land."On the one side there was promise of God but on the other side there was trouble and sword on their heads. But God fulfilled His promise and brought them out without allowing Pharaoh to use his sword. But the trouble was far from over. They hardly came out of Egypt and camped by the sea beside Pi Hahiroth, before Baal Zephon (Exo. 14:9). They saw Pharaoh and his army with six hundred chariots coming straight to them. Oh, they lost all their courage and were scared to death. They cried out to God and further Bible tells us in Exo 14:11-12, Then they said to Moses, "Because there were no graves in Egypt, have you taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you so dealt with us, to bring us up out of Egypt? Is this not the word that we told you in Egypt, saying, 'Let us alone that we may serve the Egyptians?' For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than that we should die in the wilderness."Many a times we face the same situation when all doors seem closed and no way out. Impossible situations when our wisdom fails and we think there is nothing else left except death. Israelites were in the same situation. Red sea was in front of them and Egyptian army was behind them. They were not able to go anywhere. Death was inevitable. Moses faced an impossible situation where he had no other option except to do something or die with Israelites. In that difficult moment when Moses had only few hours to act on, he cried out to God and God made a way in the midst of the Red Sea where there was no way. Moses told people in Exo 14:13-14, "Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace."Indeed it happened because Moses called upon the Lord God almighty - A God who is very present help in trouble. Are you in trouble today? Are you going through an impossible situation? Are you in do or die situation? Look to Jesus, the almighty God who can help you. He is a very present help in trouble.
Don’t you get shocked seeing the title of the message. I am not here to offend anybody but anyway I am ready to preach the God given message. There are hundreds of churches and hundreds of ministries who are doing ministry but the question is why they are not able to impact on lives. Why there is minimal growth in churches and ministries. Hundreds of churches are there but alas they are not growing. Nothing is happening in these churches. The same old fifty or hundred people are sitting and nothing is really happening. It really raises many questions in our mind doesn’t it? Why churches are not growing, why is it lacking the vital part of Christian life i.e. Holiness why? If churches are growing they are growing by splitting or by childbirth (new arrivals) or by marriage. The other reason could be that the people being pulled from one existing church to another and thus membership might be growing. If you think that your church is growing by above said means then you are totally mistaken. Your church is not growing but it is stagnant like dirty water. Why churches and ministries are not growing? There could be many reasons but today we are going to concentrate on only three of them.1. Woe to you preachers and pastors whom God has never called2. Woe to you preachers and pastors who never hear from God3. Woe to you preachers and pastors who are robbing the churches1. Woe to you preachers and pastors whom God has never called: Many or most of the preachers and pastors were not called for ministry but they are still working in God’s vineyard and that could be the most miserable thing. This is the one and only major cause of stagnancy of churches. God never called them but still they are there. Look at the life of Moses; he had a very clear-cut and very precise call in his life. God came down from heaven and appeared from the midst of the burning bush and He called Moses. Moses knew without any shadow of doubt in his heart that God has called him for the mission. Exo 3:3 Then Moses said, "I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn." Exo 3:4 So when the LORD saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, "Moses, Moses!" And he said, "Here I am." Here not only God called him for the mission but God told him very clearly that what would be his mission. Exo 3:10 "Come now, therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring My people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt." God said to Moses, your mission would be this you will go down to Egypt and bring my people Israel out of bondage. Do you know for sure that God has called you? Has God ever called you? Because you thought once you should be in ministry, or your parents thought that one of my sons or daughters should be in ministry that does not make you a God’s perfect choice. Certainly Not! The question is did God really call you? If God really called you, do you know what would be your calling and mission? Further we see Moses not only knew his calling and mission but he could accomplish everything why? Because he heard from God all the time, he did not hear one time during burning bush but he was constantly listening to God and His plan. That’s why he was successful. What about you? If God has never called you, you are never going to accomplish anything. You may be sitting with fifty or hundred people your life long and nothing will happen. Fighting with giant Satan is a different story you will not be able to kill even an ant nor will be able to win a single soul for Christ. When I was in India I had a feeling that all the churches have only fifty or hundred people and it can never grow beyond that, because that’s what I saw all my life. But when I came to USA it really blew my mind away when I saw churches with fifteen to twenty thousand people and these services were conducted in huge stadium like facilities. When I heard their testimonies it was really astonishing. They all began their ministry with very few people like fifty or hundred. But they all had a precise calling in their life from God. Not only God called them but told them what to do and what not to do and they all relied on God like Moses did. That’s why their churches grew and flourished. They grew not because of birth of children but because of the birth of new believers. Many heard the Gospel and their lives were changed that’s how they joined these churches. These churches were Gospel preaching and Gospel giving churches. That is the secret of a true growing church. First century church grew the same way. Peter preached the Gospel and three thousand were added to the church. Paul preached and established many churches. They all preached the true Gospel and those who believed were added to the church. It is called true growth of church. Unless and until true Gospel is being preached, unless and until message of the cross is being preached, unless and until message of salvation is being preached churches will stay stagnant like pool of dirty water. Nothing is happening and nothing will happen for next thousand years if these churches go the same way as they are today. 2. Woe to you preachers and pastors who never hear from God:There are many preachers and pastors who really have the call of God on their lives but alas they preach their own message. Unless and until you hear from God the messages have no value. You may spit hundred words from your mind it may not change anything. Our words do not and cannot change anybody but it is God’s unchanging words, which does wonders. God’s words are eternal and only it can change people. You may speak very beautiful, crafty words, you may have good vocabulary, you may have nice command over language but it can do nothing. One word from God can change lives and that’s what we need today. Read about Moses in book of Exodus and you’ll know that Moses heard from God in every moment. He did nothing without hearing from God. Message given by God brings consolation, correction, spiritual growth and many other things. When you hear a message you can easily know that message came from God or not. Message brought from God does not change by seeing audience or people. Many years back I visited my cousins to south India. My cousins used to take me with them in many spiritual meetings. They were new believers and so I was too. Once I attended a house prayer meeting. Since I was from North India my dress was different than theirs. They used to wear Sari or long skirt - blouse and since I was from North India I was wearing Salwar Kamiz (North Indian outfit). The preacher found out that I and my sister was looking different than others so he began to preach, “Some girls wear very modern dresses like salwar suit and do lot of fashion and it is not good for a spiritual person…blah..blah.. blah….” Well as soon as I heard it I knew that this message did not come from God but it was mere a garbage from the preacher himself. The reason is it was a very common dress of North India because everybody wore it as a regular dress so there was nothing very fashionable about it. The second reason is the dress was very descent and was covered from neck to toe. Since I was not wearing a short skirt or low-neck dress so there was nothing wrong with it. He talked all the nonsense out of his little knowledge about the dress and about me. It made it clear that the said preacher did not hear the message from God though he was saved and spirit filled. If you are a good preacher but still if you are not hearing the messages from God the messages does not have any value in the sight of God. Once during family prayer Lord spoke to us saying,” I have many preachers in this world but there are very few who really care about what I want to say. There are many working for me and they are doing the things which I never spoke to them to do.” How sad it is? are you that person? Not listening what master want to speak or to say but doing your own things, busy with doing new ministries every day without knowing that if it is really the will of God or not. Many of us have even created our own ministries, which God has never ordained or appointed. 3. Woe to you preachers and pastors who are Robbing the churches:Have you ever thought about it? The people who should be role model for the people and the congregation are turned as robbers and thieves robbing the churches and doing looting in it. This is what used to happen in one church. They used to spend money lavishly out of the church. After General body meetings and other meetings they used to make big parties in big hotels. From where the money came for such parties? From church only, the question is why can’t they spend money out of their pocket, why taking money out of church which was unlawful and is not their property. I do not know if they were spending lavishly or behind the scene making money out of it but there were many rumors were there. They had many accounts on their own name and as soon as their term was over they abscond with that account without any trace. They keep coming to church but will never give an account for the money they collected. How sad it is. The pastor of that church who should be role model for others encouraged such activities and was involved in it. The people who worked hard and gave money for God’s work did not know that the church authorities were feasting on their money. The other incidence I remember is, our church’s roof fell don’t know if it was natural or intentional. There was a general body to collect the money to repair the roof. Many quotes were brought in. The real cost for repair was 7-10 thousand dollars. But the Pastor kept on insisting to pass the budget for 36,000 dollar quote. I could not understand what was the point behind it to pass the amount, which was 3-4 fold higher than actual cost. He was kept fighting and quarrelling to pass that amount. Well that’s how your and mine money is being spent in many churches. You might have given for God’s work but who knows somebody may be feasting on your money and making their houses big. What kind of a preacher or pastor are you? Are you robbing the church and encouraging others to do the same? Judas did the same thing. Bible says, “He was a thief.” John 12:4, “Then one of His disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, who would betray Him, said, John 12:5 "Why was this fragrant oil not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?" John 12:6, “This he said, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and had the money box; and he used to take what was put in it.” Judas was stealing money out of church. He might have done lot of theft during the 31/2 yrs period when he was with Jesus. He might have thought that he has mastered the thing and knew how to steal and come clean but was he clever? Finally he could not resist betraying Jesus for thirty pieces of silver. What was the result of it. You all know he hanged himself to death. First he played with fire (sin) then fire killed him. If you are a thief stealing money and robbing the church get alerted. It will not go forever and ever. No my friends. One day sin will catch you and will destroy you in hell fire. Churches are not growing the reason is money is not being spent for Gospel work but behind the scene something else is going on. Recently I was listening to a preacher on TV who holds the big church with 27,000 members. He said some remarkable things, which really touched me. He said, “millions of dollar comes on my way every day, I handle millions of dollar but I know how to guard myself and protect the God’s money. His main message was, “Satan gives ideas, suggestions and thoughts but you must know how to guard your thoughts so that Satan may not win” Yes we need holiness in our lives than anything else. If you are a preacher or a pastor you must know how to handle God’s money and how to respect it and how to stay clean before God and others.
Job 15:20-21, "The wicked man writhes with pain all his days, And the number of years is hidden from the oppressor. Dreadful sounds are in his ears; In prosperity the destroyer comes upon him."Bible talks about the fate of wicked people and it also talks about reward of righteous people. Those who do not know God or those who have broken the laws of God and never repented from their sins, come under the category of wicked. What is the fate of a wicked? Psalmist says in Psa 9:17, "The wicked shall be turned into hell, And all the nations that forget God." Even in this world when someone breaks the law of government, he/she is punished and sent into prison. A few months back a woman named Anna Ayala claimed that while eating in Wendy's fast food restaurant she found human finger with nail on it. That news brought down sales of Wendy's restaurant. Many weeks of investigation revealed that it was a scam. What she did was, she put a finger tip of her husband's associate who had an industrial accident, in her chili dish and made a false claim. Police arrested her for her false claim. You can see what type of mindless people are in this world. Just for millions of dollars she came up with this bizarre story. But what she gained at the end? Nothing, except of ending up in prison.Just for money and for fame people are ready to do anything. They even do not think the consequences of their evil deeds and destroy their own lives. I belong to Church of South India. In last few years Church of South India in North America has seen some dramatic things. A few days back one of the layman of Church of South India proclaimed himself as "General Secretary of Church of South India of North America" sent letters to CSINA council officials that they cannot use the logo of CSI or the name "Church of South India". Two years back the same person created a group called UCMC-NA (UNION of the CSI Malayalam Congregations of North America). This group has one Bishop, three or four pastors and a handful of CSI (Church of South India) members with them. What these people did was most deplorable. They tried to hijack the whole Church of South India, which is the largest church in India, which was founded almost sixty years back. Church of South India has more than 4 million members around the world and 14,000 congregations in 21 dioceses. These few people of UCMC now so called CSINA registered the logo and the name of the CSI Church with the trademark office and they pretended as if they are the main CSI Church thereby trying to steal the name and logo of the established Church. Those who raised their voices against UCMC, are being threatened. One may wonder how anybody can do these types of mindless and evil things? Just for money and just for position people can get down this mean. But at the end there is no blessing for these type of people. Bible again and again warns and tells us that wicked will end up in hell fire. Psa 9:17, "The wicked shall be turned into hell, And all the nations that forget God." But God in His mercy made a way for us so that we could come out of our wickedness and live a holy life and enter into eternal life. God invited everyone to turn from evil ways and live as we read in Ezek 18:23 "Do I have any pleasure at all that the wicked should die?" says the Lord GOD, "and not that he should turn from his ways and live?God has no pleasure in the death but He wants to give us life. Why you should die as a fool when God wants to give eternal life. Turn to Him, repent from your sins and take the eternal life. You are not going to live forever in this world but after death you have to live eternally whether in heaven or hell. Choose heaven before it may be too late.

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
