A few weeks prior to my dad's departure for USA, he noticed that my brother was cutting some small wooden pieces and sanding it. When he asked what he was doing, my brother replied that he was trying to make a piano so that he could learn to play music. My dad told him that he could not make it but he was insistent that he could.

He worked hard to make it but I think he could not finish his project. My dad left India. Months passed by and a few months later he sent some things for us. In that one of the things was a synthesizer. When my brother saw it, he was so much excited that within days he learned to play a few songs. Even he did not ask for it yet Dad remembered the hard work of my brother and he wanted to fulfill the desires of his heart by sending a gift of synthesizer.

Yes, like this the heavenly Father knows the desires of His Children. Are you a child of God, He is mindful of your desires. Psalmist says in Psa 37:4, "Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart."

Once my dad went on his official tour to a big city and we also went with him. In front of the hotel where we were staying there was a small rose garden. The garden had many beautiful roses. Our eyes were set on orange shaded roses, they were the most beautiful among it. We all wanted those beautiful roses in our home too. After returning we tried to bring cuttings or plants but those orange roses never grew in our home. Slowly we realized that orange roses may never grow in our home. It was frustrating, but we all lost our hopes on growing orange roses.

Days and months passed by. Meanwhile we all got saved. Later we moved to our own house. When we came to our newly constructed house, there was nothing in the garden. We purchased mixed colored roses and planted in our garden. It all started to grow. When flowers started to bloom, to our surprise most of it were orange roses. How it happened we did not know. Mom said, "we longed for orange roses and finally God fulfilled the desires of our heart." The long forgotten dreams, long forgotten desires of our hearts, came true though we did not ask for. Though we forgot about those dreams yet God did not. He did bring it to pass.

Yes, my friend, there is a God who cares for us and wants to give our heart's desire. Bible says in Psa 84:11, "For the LORD God is a sun and shield; The LORD will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold From those who walk uprightly."

He will not withhold any good thing from those who walk uprightly. You might have dreams that could have been long forgotten by you. You could have given up all your hopes regarding your dreams. Look to Jesus, He will not fail you. He will bring your long forgotten dreams to come to pass.

If you are not His child you can become one by accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Please pray this prayer with me: Lord Jesus, I want to become your child. Please forgive and forget all my sins. Help me to live like your child. As you are holy let me be holy. Today I accept you as my Lord and Savior. Come into my heart and give me a new life. Thank you Lord for hearing my prayer and giving me a new life. I give you all the glory. In Jesus name I pray, amen.

Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

"Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" This question was not only asked by the keeper of the prison, but this is the question which every man and woman is asking from centuries. No matter what religion you are, no matter what language you speak, this is the burning question of every mind. That is the reason why many do hard work to find their salvation. Hindus believe that unless they perform the four pilgrimages of India which are situated in north, south, east and west, they cannot come to the realization of being saved. Last week I was watching the testimony of a former Muslim, Mr. Ergun Caner on TV. He said that in Islam the only one assurance to go to heaven for a person is that he has to die as a martyr by doing Jihad. That is the reason why there is no shortage of people who volunteer for committing suicide."

This is the tragic reality. Many believe in wrong doings and lose their soul.

The same question was asked by the keeper of the prison where Paul and Silas were imprisoned. The reason for their imprisonment was that they cast out demonic spirit from a girl who followed them everyday and cried out, saying, "These men are the servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us the way of salvation." And this she did for many days. But Paul, greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, "I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her." And he came out that very hour" (Acts 16:17-18).

Further, Bible tells us in Acts 16:19-24, "But when her masters saw that their hope of profit through that girl was lost, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them into the marketplace to the authorities. And they brought them to the magistrates, and said, "These men, being Jews, exceedingly trouble our city; and they teach customs which are not lawful for us, being Romans, to receive or observe." Then the multitude rose up together against them; and the magistrates tore off their clothes and commanded them to be beaten with rods. And when they had laid many stripes on them, they threw them into prison, commanding the jailer to keep them securely. Having received such a charge, he put them into the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks."

Paul and Silas were called ‘extreme trouble makers’ in that place because they became enemies of the money makers because the source of their income was gone. When money is the center point, it will always bring trouble. People would even be ready to kill others for money.

So now Paul and Silas were in high security prison. But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was a great earthquake so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone's chains were loosed. And the keeper of the prison, awaking from sleep and seeing the prison doors open, supposing the prisoners had fled, drew his sword and was about to kill himself. But Paul called with a loud voice, saying, "Do yourself no harm, for we are all here." Then he called for a light, ran in, and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas. And he brought them out and said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved? (Acts 16:25-30)"

In Acts 16:31, they said, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household." To get saved is as simple as this, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ." What you have to believe? That Jesus Christ is the only Savior of the world. He is the only God, creator of the universe, the lamb of God who came down to take away our sins on the cross. By giving His life on the cross He earned salvation for us. The work of salvation has already been perfected on the cross, now we have to only believe.

Jesus Himself said in Luke 13:3 "no; but, unless you repent, you will all likewise perish." Repent and turn to Christ lest you perish. Jesus is the only way of salvation. Jesus promised eternal life and Salvation for those who come to Him. Bible says in John 1:12, "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name."

Once a Pharisee named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews came to Jesus. Jesus told him in John 3:3, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." Nicodemus was puzzled hearing it and asked in John 3:4, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?" Jesus answered in John 3:5-6, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit."

Jesus made it clear that when a person is born in this world, he/she is born of flesh. But we need to take birth in our spirit. This birth can only take place by the mighty power of the Holy Spirit. Further Jesus said in John 3:17-18, "For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."

Are you searching for eternal life? Come to Jesus, He will give you salvation and eternal life. He will give you the experience of being born again.

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 13th Jan. 2009

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 13th Jan. 2009

Printed Version of the Magazine
