This is the tale of Abraham and Sarah. Abraham’s wife Sarah was barren and they had no children. One day "the LORD appeared to Abram and said, To your descendants I will give this land”(Gen 12:7). It seems that at that time it was easy for Abraham to believe in that promise. But as days and months passed by and both Sarah and Abraham were advanced in age they started to lose their hopes of having a child. Abraham’s desperation can be seen in his argument with God in Gen 15:1-3, “After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision, saying, "Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward." But Abram said, "Lord GOD, what will You give me, seeing I go childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?" Then Abram said, "Look, You have given me no offspring; indeed one born in my house is my heir!" But once again God promises him in Gen 15:4-6, “And behold, the word of the LORD came to him, saying, "This one shall not be your heir, but one who will come from your own body shall be your heir." Then He brought him outside and said, "Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them." And He said to him, "So shall your descendants be." And he believed in the LORD, and He accounted it to him for righteousness.”Finally Sarah got an idea to have children through her maidservant Hagar. All these years she could have been patiently waiting for God’s promises to come true but when it did not happen, she lost her hope. Does it not often happen to believers also? When God gives a promise, we start thinking about our ability, our power and so forth. Above all, the devil will constantly tell you, “You cannot have this thing… you cannot do this and that…” and we start losing courage and hope. At times the promise of God seems so unattainable that we start thinking about alternative ways or shortcuts to achieve those promises. Same thing happened to Sarah, she took a big step in a wrong direction. But in Genesis 17th chapter we read God’s promise once again for Sarah and Abraham. “Then God said to Abraham, "As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall be her name. "And I will bless her and also give you a son by her; then I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of peoples shall be from her." Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed, and said in his heart, "Shall a child be born to a man who is one hundred years old? And shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a child?" And Abraham said to God, "Oh, that Ishmael might live before You!" Then God said: "No, Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac; I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his descendants after him”(Gen 17:15-19).In the above verses we could see God reaffirming Abraham the promise He gave to him. God had a great plan and greatness was waiting for them but they made their mind to settle down in less. May be theologians would tell you that Abraham was humble enough to embrace the bondservant. But it was not humbleness; it was an act made in shear desperation and hopelessness. God tried to make Abraham understand that greatness does not come through the bondservant. God said to him in Gen 17:1, “When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to Abraham and said to him, "I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless.”Today also God’s greatness and great destiny is waiting for His children but how many are there who would only choose to settle down with less and lose the best of God’s provision. Arise man of God and woman of God, embrace the great plan and destiny of God for your life instead of settling down with less. Do not believe in the lies of the devil. Tell the devil on his face that, “we are destined to fly higher and higher. Princes and princess are waiting for us and we are not going to settle down with less.”
God not only calls people for the ministry but also equips them for the task. Somebody said, "when God calls you for the ministry He puts you in school. That is so true. When God calls anybody for the ministry He also trains the person for the task. Look at the life of Paul, who was saying that he was not preaching his own messages or thoughts of his mind but was delivering the messages which he learned from Jesus Himself. He further says that Jesus revealed things to him through revelation. Gal 1:11 -12, "But I make known to you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ." The question is, to whom does God give revelations? Acts 2:17, 'And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams.' If you are filled with Holy Spirit you can get revelations. When God calls you for ministry He just does not leave you alone without aid or help, but He trains you and equips you for the future ministry. It was in 1984 when I got filled with Holy Spirit and it was at that time that I heard the call for ministry. The Lord not only filled me with the blessed Holy Spirit but also began to reveal things through dreams and visions. It was in 1989 when we had our first encounter with witchcraft. Till then I had no knowledge about witchcraft and working of demons. Even I didn't have the knowledge that witchcraft could do any harm to people. There was a woman who used to visit our house often. One day she expressed her desire to come to our house as a tenant. At that time my dad was retired and we were going through financial crisis. So my mom said that it would be a good opportunity for some extra money so that our life could be a little easy." We had big two story house and so we decided to give the upper floor for rent. Money began to come and everything looked good but before we gave our house for rent we failed to pray and know if it was the will of God. There was a good anointed preacher with whom we had correspondence. One day we wrote to him that we gave our house for rent and our life became easy. His reply was very astonishing because he wrote back, "I am praying so that your tenant must vacate the house as soon as possible." It really startled us and we began to think why he wrote something like this. Few months later another preacher came to visit us. He prayed saying, "I see light in the lower portion of your house but I see pitch darkness in the upper portion. The upper portion of the house is filled with darkness." Till then we had no idea what he was talking about but later we found out that the tenants were practicing witchcraft. One day we were going out of the town for three four days and we told about it to them. A day before we were leaving, she brought five sweet bread (puran poli/boli). Usually it is a very tasty sweet but this had no taste in it. As soon as we ate my mom remembered the dream she saw in the previous night. She said, "In my dream the said woman gave me five small breads which looked like garlic. And as soon as my mom ate it she heard a voice "witchcraft". Well, next day we left and when we returned back home the said woman told us, "I thought you may not return back." It looked so strange because I can't imagine if somebody can speak such things. We ate the sweet bread over that witchcraft was done I believe but we escaped unhurt. It was the very first training God gave us. God showed the real situation through dream to my mom. After this we came across many who practice witchcraft and it was the time when God made us to learn their working pattern. Not only that, God showed us how to break those demonic powers and find deliverance and solution. It was quite an experience, which you cannot get in any school. If you are a prophet and God had called you for such ministry nobody can fool you. Before something comes up God reveals those things and provides grace to escape and sustain. Even before the attack comes God shows who is planning what and what is going on in the background. God reveals things thorough dreams and visions. If condition looks dangerous He reveals it even before it materializes. I remember one more incidence, which took place many years back. There was a man who was trying to kill my brother because of the ministry. One day somebody came and told us to be careful because so and so could harm us. But before they could tell us God already had revealed that the same group of people is trying to harm us. But they were telling those things and were pretending as our friends. One night I saw a dream and in my dream I saw a man known to us. In the dream I saw that he had a huge sword around ten to twelve feet big in his hand. He was getting ready to strike with it. In the morning I woke up and told the dream to my family members. My dad was at that time in US and my brother had gone to south India. It was more than thousand five hundred miles away from our place. So only my mom, sister and I were alone. We discussed everything and decided that if the said man or somebody comes what we will do. Well we had no idea whether he would ever come to our house. It was afternoon at three when my sister was standing at the balcony and watching the hustle and buzzle of the street. Suddenly I heard a scream. She screamed loud and ran inside the house shouting, "he has come, he has come." I jumped up from my bed and asked, "Who has come?" She said, "the man you saw in your dream has come." I looked outside at the gate and there he was. He was ringing the bell. To my surprise he was wearing the same color dress, which I saw in my dream. What a surprise, what a great God we serve. Even before he could plan anything or before he could come God showed everything. Even God knew what dress he is going to wear that day. God had showed everything and prepared us. We were well prepared beforehand so we stayed calm and did what we had decided beforehand. If God had called you for ministry He will train you and teach you what to do and what not to do. This training is every time different than what you would expect. This is not an A….B…C.. kind of instruction where you can apply the same thing every time. But for similar type of problems God's solution would be different every time. So if you are in constant touch with God then only you can receive the right instruction at the right time. I am sure God had trained David too. That is why he could say, "God makes me wiser than my enemies." Psa 119:98 -99 You, through Your commandments, make me wiser than my enemies; For they are ever with me. I have more understanding than all my teachers,….." When Saul was seeking David to kill him God gave him wisdom to escape. He surely made him wiser than his enemy.
This is a true story which I heard a few weeks back. One young man got saved and gave his life to Jesus. He tried to share the message of Jesus to his father but every time his father refused to listen to anything about Jesus. The more he tried the more it sounded like hitting the wall and not reaching anywhere. The young man’s heart was broken. He could do nothing except to pray and plead with God for his father to be saved. When the World trade center buildings collapsed On 11th Sep. 2001, his father who lived in the same area, volunteered to rescue the people. Next day they got the news that his father died when the towers collapsed. His heart was shattered to pieces. Three months later he got a knock at his door. When he opened the door there stood a young couple with their infant in hand. They came in and started sharing their story. The lady who was pregnant was working in one of the towers of the World Trade Center. When the tower was attacked, she was coming down the stairs to escape. She was so tired that she could not move any further. She sat there worrying what would happen to her if she was not rescued from that building.While she was sitting there the young man’s father came there. As he was bringing her down, she shared the love of Christ with him. When they reached at the ground level she asked him, whether he wanted to accept Jesus as his Lord and Savior? He said yes! She led him to the sinner’s prayer and he gave his life to Jesus. But he died as he was continually rescuing people. The lady said, “we have come to show our gratitude toward your father for rescuing me from the burning building. Also we have given our son’s name in memory of your deceased father.” Hearing the story both the families were in tears. They rejoiced thinking that their prayers have been answered and the father is in heaven.You might have prayed for your parents, children or loved ones for their salvation and you might have felt as if they will never turn to Christ. But the Bible tells us that our God is a prayer answering God. He will certainly answer your prayers. Do not lose your heart; do not stop praying for your loved ones. One day God will reward you and accept your prayers.

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
