Halloween & accursed thing

As Halloween approaches, you could see different signs in homes like graveyard, demons, skulls, spiders and other scary stuff symbolizing death and destruction. It is believed by some that on 31st Oct. dead spirits go loose and that they could harm people and so they put scary stuff in front of their home thinking to scare those spirits away.But unfortunately it is not true. Instead those symbols may invite demons in your home.In Joshua 7th chapter we read about Achan who took some accursed things and hid them in his tent. When the Israelites went to fight against their enemies, they faced defeat. Joshua cried out to God and God revealed to Joshua that Israel has sinned by taking accursed thing. We read in Josh 7:10-13, So the LORD said to Joshua: "Get up! Why do you lie thus on your face? Israel has sinned, and they have also transgressed My covenant which I commanded them. For they have even taken some of the accursed things, and have both stolen and deceived; and they have also put it among their own stuff. Therefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they have become doomed to destruction. Neither will I be with you anymore, unless you destroy the accursed from among you. Get up, sanctify the people, and say, 'Sanctify yourselves for tomorrow, because thus says the LORD God of Israel: "There is an accursed thing in your midst, O Israel; you cannot stand before your enemies until you take away the accursed thing from among you."Achan took those accursed things and it brought death and destruction in the camp of Israel. Why? Because they were no ordinary things but witchcraft had been done over it or were offered to the devil.If you look at the Etymology of this word it says: Late Latin anathema, "doomed offering, accursed thing" from Greek anathema, "evil, accursed thing," the noun from anatithenai, anathe- "to dedicate" based on ana- "up, back, anew"+ tithenai "to put." The original meaning was "an offering, gift to the temple." From the original root *dhe/dho- "set, put," also the origin of English "do" (German "tun") and related words: "doom," "deed," "deem," and many more. It was an evil thing that provoked God's anger on Israel. Even today also God wants us to turn around from those symbols which provoke God and does not give glory to God. God's purpose for every human being is that we should see blessings in our lives. For this very purpose Jesus came in this world to take away all our curses and all fear from our lives. He went to the cruel cross and shed His precious blood so that we could see a blessed life. He is ready to remove all curses from our lives if we give our lives into His mighty hands.Putting scary stuff in your home is not the solution but the blood of Jesus is the solution for removing curses and fear from your hearts and lives. No evil spirits, no demons, can harm the child of God who has blood of Jesus in his/her life. Come to Jesus and give your life to Him and you will never be the same again.
You will Blossom again
When winter season comes, most of the flowers start to fade away and plants start to wilt. Shop owners throw away potted plants whether it is perennial or not in order to save space and labor. Once my sister was passing by a shop where they piled up several big pots with flowering mums to be thrown away. My sister asked, "Are you throwing them away?" The answer was yes. My sister brought those plants home, cut all the dead stems, leaves and flowers and replanted them in new soil. Those plants were in very bad shape. They had not been watered for days and leaves were droopy, most of the flowers had wilted away. But when my sister replanted them, it became fresh as if a new life came in those plants. Leaves turned to fresh green color and flowers started to bloom again. Bible says in Isa 35:1, "The wilderness and the wasteland shall be glad for them, And the desert shall rejoice and blossom as the rose;"Do you know that God created mankind as His precious possession, but devil tried to steel them from the hands of God. He tried to destroy Adam and Eve - the first human being. Devil was even successful in doing so. But God did not give up. He came to redeem and to restore the trashed mankind who were piled up to die. Jesus came in this world seeking the lost humanity to save them from utter destruction. Jesus said in Mat 18:11 "For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost." Also in Luke 19:10 "for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost."Every person is scheduled to die because of his or her sin but because of the resurrection of Jesus from His death gives us hope that we can also come out of death and live again. When a person accepts Jesus as his/her Lord and Savior, he/she gets a new life. Bible tells us in 2 Cor 5:17, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."Jesus also said in John 5:24 "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life."The main purpose of Jesus in coming to this world was to give us new life or eternal life by removing death and destruction from our lives so that we could bloom and blossom again. It is God's perfect will that we could have this wonderful life that Jesus came to give us. He said in John 10:10, "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."Yes, you will blossom again if you get new life through Jesus. All that is dead and decaying in your life would be gone when He pours His life giving life in you. He will make you to bloom and blossom again.
Through the Valley of Death

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 13th Jan. 2009
As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 13th Jan. 2009
