Often our hearts fill with worries and anxieties of this world. Some times fear comes in our hearts because we think so much about our future. What may happen tomorrow? Will I be able to live a healthy life? Will I have enough money for my daily provision and could I live a decent life? Could I be able to pay my bills and meet my medical expanses? Even If a person is in a good job, still he will be thinking, “Will this job last forever for me?” Such questions start ringing in our ears and start consuming us slowly until we give up our hope.It is a tragedy that many live in depression because of worry and anxiety. They are not able to concentrate on their day-to-day life and they forget about every blessing and goodness God has showered on them. Worry and anxiety hits not only unbelievers but also believers in Christ. That is the reason why Paul writes to the church of Philippians, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Phil 4:6-7),Sometimes fear comes because of sickness or death in the family. When Jesus was crucified and buried in the grave, His disciples were frightened. They were anxious and heartbroken. They were afraid whether the same people who dragged Jesus in the streets of Jerusalem may not come and get them also and kill them as well. More than that, the pain of losing their beloved friend was unbearable. They could not imagine living without Jesus. They could not imagine preaching again in the same streets. They were totally confused and their future was bleak. They lost all their hopes.We read in John 20:19, “Then, the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, "Peace be with you."But Jesus stood in their midst and it changed everything in their lives as we read in John 20:20, “When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord.”As soon as they saw Jesus their hearts rejoiced. They forgot all their fears and they were glad. That is what happens when Jesus comes in our lives and in our homes. He fills us with great joy and peace that this world cannot give. The peace and joy was so great that the disciples came out of that small room and preached boldly in the same place where Jesus died the most horrific death. They were no longer afraid. They were no longer frightened. But they shook the world with the mighty power of God. There is one more reason that brings fear and anxiety in our lives and that is our sins. Sin brings fear and anxiety in our lives. When Adam and Eve sinned they were afraid and they hid themselves from God. When David sinned, he was afraid and pleaded with God to forgive his sins. When his sins were forgiven, peace and joy returned. Even today, Jesus wants to fill our hearts with great peace that this world cannot give. He came in this world for the very purpose and died as our substitute so that we could enjoy perfect peace and joy in our lives. He can still give His peace to us, if we turn to Him and give our life to Him.
John 1:14, “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.”Jesus is called the "Word" (Logos, Gk.) in John first chapter. John refers Him as 'Word'. And in John 1:1-3 we read, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.”We read in the Old Testament how God commanded and the whole universe was created. He just spoke and the world came into existence. God blessed Adam and Eve and they could enjoy manifold blessings of God until they fell in sin. You can imagine the power of the Word seeing His creation. The Psalmist says in Psalm 29 that God’s voice is powerful. The same mighty and powerful Word came down in this world and walked among us. His ministry of three and a half years in this world was filled with amazing and awesome miracles. He transformed lives, He wiped away the tears of the widows and the needy. He healed the sick, raised the dead and gave hope to the hopeless.When the same Word comes in our lives, He performs exactly the same miracles that He did in the past. He walks among His people and fills them with great blessings.Some of the blessings that 'the Word' brings in our lives can be read from the book of Psalms. The Psalmist says in Psa 107:19-20, “Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, And He saved them out of their distresses. He sent His word and healed them, And delivered them from their destructions.”Psa 119:9, “How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word.”Psa 119:11, “Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You!”Psa 119:50 This is my comfort in my affliction, For Your word has given me life.Psa 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.Psa 119:114 You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in Your word.God said that if we observe His Word, blessings as written in Deuteronomy 28:1-14 will come in our lives.After Moses’ death when Joshua was ready to lead the Israelites through the wilderness, God spoke to him about the importance of observing His word as we read in Josh 1:8-9, "This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go."If you want to have a peaceful, successful, prosperous and blessed life, His Word is the answer. Return to Him, meditate on His Word, observe His Word and you will see your life changing. Today greatest problem of most of the churches is that they accept every other literature and every other theology but when it comes to interpret the Bible as it is –unaltered Word of God, it is not appreciated.But if we return to the Word, there is a bright future for us.

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
