By Sherly Isaac

Recently I met some who called themselves to be Christian believers but the more I talked to them the more I realized that they denied even the basic teachings of Jesus Christ.

When I asked some of them whether they are saved are not, here is what they said, "we cannot say who is saved or who is not saved...it is in the hands of Christ only he can say it." Second thing they would tell that, "God has chosen few or predestined a few to be saved from sins".

When I received the same type of reply from many of them, I was completely shocked.

But Bible tells us otherwise. In Mat 18:11 Jesus said, "For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost." Jesus did not come to save one or two but everyone who is LOST. If you think that you are lost because of sin, you are qualified to receive the salvation of God.

If some are predestined to go to hell and if some are predestined to receive salvation then Jesus' coming on the earth and His sacrifice is for vain. Nothing matters what you do, nothing will change it. If God has already made up His mind to destroy or select you then no matter what you do, it will not change an iota. If God has chosen few elected people to get salvation then He would have never needed to come down in this world and die for us. He would never have needed to go through horrible trials and that gruesome death on the cross. He would never have needed to shed His precious blood on the cross.

But see the heart of our heavenly father who says in Ezekiel 33:11, "Say to them: 'As I live,' says the Lord GOD, 'I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why should you die, O house of Israel?'

And Jesus said in John 3:15-16, "that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

Whoever believes in Jesus, he/she has eternal life. The work of salvation done by Jesus is for every mankind and those who believe in Him and accept Him as Lord and Savior will receive forgiveness of their sins regardless of their race, religion, creed or nationality.

Why should you perish when God has prepared a way for eternal salvation? Just come to Him, accept Him as your Lord and Savior and He will give you eternal life. As we read in John 1:12, "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:"

Just pray this prayer with me, Lord Jesus I am a sinner and I realize that by no means I could ever achieve salvation of my soul. But I thank you that you have given your precious life for me so that I could come out of my sins and live a holy life. Please forgive and forget all my sins and give me eternal life. Today make me your child. Thank you Jesus for giving me eternal life. Thank you Jesus for showing me your salvation. I give you all the glory. I pray this prayer in the mighty and wonderful name of Jesus, Amen.

Women Disciples of Jesus! Part 1

By Sherly Isaac

Probably this is the most interesting topic that I have ever touched, especially for those who believe that women should be silent in the church.

The term "Disciple" simply means "Student" who follows the teachings of his/her teacher. When Jesus was about to leave this world, He told His disciples in Mat 28:19-20, "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen."

For those who follow Jesus there is no distinction whether they are male or female as we read in Gal 3:28, "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus."

In the Bible we read of many women disciples of Jesus. Is that shocking to you?

Here are some of the names of women disciples who were with Jesus:
• Mary Magdalene—Luke 8:2–3, Mark 15:40, Matthew 27:56, John 19:25, and Luke 23:49
• Mary, the mother of James and Joses—Matthew 27:55–56
• Mary, the mother of Jesus
• Mother of Zebedee's sons—Matthew 27:55–56
• Priscilla—Romans 16:3
• Salome—Mark 16:1
• Sisters Mary and Martha—Luke 10:38, John 11:1–44
• Tabitha/Dorcas—Acts 9:36
• Widow of Nain—Luke 7:11–17
• Woman bent double—Luke 13:10–17
• Woman with an issue of blood—Matthew 10:20

Luke 8:1-3, "Now it came to pass, afterward, that He went through every city and village, preaching and bringing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God. And the twelve were with Him, and certain women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities--Mary called Magdalene, out of whom had come seven demons, and Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others who provided for Him from their substance.”

Mar 15:40-41, "There were also women looking on from afar, among whom were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James the Less and of Joses, and Salome, who also followed Him and ministered to Him when He was in Galilee, and many other women who came up with Him to Jerusalem."

These women becane His followers at some time or point of their lives when they met Jesus. They loved the Lord and they accompnied Him until death. When Jesus rose from the dead, Mary Magdalene was the first to proclaim His resurrection to other disciples. Thus she became the first preacher of the Gospel.

The story of Mary Magdalene is very interesting, how she met Jesus and started to follow Him. Mary was a demon possessed woman. Who had seven demons in her but who had been healed of evil spirits when she came to Jesus. Some people think that she was the prostitute whom people wanted to stone in John 8:7, "So when they continued asking Him, He raised Himself up and said to them, "He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first."

And everyone left, no one condemned her.

She is also believed to be the sinner who washed the feet of Jesus with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head. In Luke 7:37-50, “And behold, a woman in the city who was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at the table in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster flask of fragrant oil, and stood at His feet behind Him weeping; and she began to wash His feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head; and she kissed His feet and anointed them with the fragrant oil. Now when the Pharisee who had invited Him saw this, he spoke to himself, saying, "This Man, if He were a prophet, would know who and what manner of woman this is who is touching Him, for she is a sinner." And Jesus answered and said to him, "Simon, I have something to say to you." So he said, "Teacher, say it." "There was a certain creditor who had two debtors. One owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. And when they had nothing with which to repay, he freely forgave them both. Tell Me, therefore, which of them will love him more?" Simon answered and said, "I suppose the one whom he forgave more." And He said to him, "You have rightly judged." Then He turned to the woman and said to Simon, "Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave Me no water for My feet, but she has washed My feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head. You gave Me no kiss, but this woman has not ceased to kiss My feet since the time I came in. You did not anoint My head with oil, but this woman has anointed My feet with fragrant oil. Therefore I say to you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little." Then He said to her, "Your sins are forgiven." And those who sat at the table with Him began to say to themselves, "Who is this who even forgives sins?" Then He said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you. Go in peace."

This woman who lived in sin was forgiven and that was the moment of turning point for her. She started to follow Jesus, she started to love Jesus. But a day came when her beloved master was hung on the cross and died. All the male disciples fled. Yet she and other women stood at the cross. And she was the one who first proclaimed the Good News of Jesus' resurrection to the hurting disciples.

My friend, the same Gospel of hope and of life which was first proclaimed by this woman preacher is for us today. Are you hopeless, have you lost all your hopes? Come to Jesus, the same Jesus who overcame the world, who overcame the tragedy and triumphed over death can give you new hope and fill you with great joy.

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 8th Dec.. 2015

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
