Deuteronomy 31:6 "Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you." We have a God, who cares for us. He says I will never leave you nor forsake you. If we look in the lives of the Israelites, we can see how God lead them through the wilderness all the 40 years and they did not lack anything. Nehemiah said about God in his book of Nehemiah 9:19 to 23," Yet in Your manifold mercies You did not forsake them in the wilderness. The pillar of the cloud did not depart from them by day, To lead them on the road; Nor the pillar of fire by night, To show them light, And the way they should go. You also gave Your good Spirit to instruct them, And did not withhold Your manna from their mouth, And gave them water for their thirst. Forty years You sustained them in the wilderness, They lacked nothing; Their clothes did not wear out And their feet did not swell. "Moreover You gave them kingdoms and nations, And divided them into districts. So they took possession of the land of Sihon, The land of the king of Heshbon, And the land of Og king of Bashan. You also multiplied their children as the stars of heaven, And brought them into the land Which You had told their fathers To go in and possess." We can see that when they went through wilderness, for the whole 40 years they did not lack anything, even their clothes did not wear out and their feet did not swell and also He provided them food and water to drink. Very often people think that if we go in the ways of God we will loose everything in our lives, we will never get good things in our lives. No, my friend, instead of loosing, you will start wining in your life when you go with Jesus. As we see in the lives of the Israelites they possessed every good thing as the Bible says in Nehemiah 9:25 And they took strong cities and a rich land, And possessed houses full of all goods, Cisterns already dug, vineyards, olive groves, And fruit trees in abundance. So they ate and were filled and grew fat, And delighted themselves in Your great goodness. Yes, He can do the same thing for you, look to Jesus and you will lack nothing. The question arises what Y2K bug is all about. When computers were designed two digits were used for the year instead of four digits. Now in year 2000 computer will give the year as 00 and most computer programs interpret it as 1900. Human minds can recognize that it's an error and can adjust to the error but computers do not recognize that it is an error and they cannot adjust to it by themselves. Is this Y2K problem real? If you look at the web page of this article, you will find at the bottom, when this page was last updated. From outside it looks good because it shows 1999 but inside every thing is not that good. The JavaScript (Java a computer Language) Engine is returning two digit Year i.e 99 and 1900 is being added to it but when this JavaScript used on a web page that is created in 2000 it will show 1900 instead of 2000. So you can see that even JavaScript language that came into existence not long ago is also giving only two digits for year.Now what's the big deal? So for it is ok, only problem is that the users will come and read the date incorrectly that's all. But let's look at the programs that are on your computer. Some of the programs check the current date with a date that the computer stored previously and if it is a new day it does some things. For example every day you get up brush your teeth, get fresh you do not do it every 5 minutes, do you? Same way some things are done by computer only once a day and the whole day's work is some times dependant on that initialization work done at the start of the day. So in 2000 if computer program recognizes it as 1900 computer program will check if today's date is bigger than previously stored date and it will say no and will not do the required thing. Likewise there are many things that depend on date like checking previous month, previous year, sometimes checking time elapsed and so on. One problem can cause chain reactions. And also because these checking most of the time return true or false, program may be doing quite the opposite in that particular segment because program will return false where it should return true. What can be the effect of this Y2K bug? Some companies are spending millions of dollars to correct this problem, others are not. We know the problem and we know the solution but the time bomb is ticking too fast. Barely ten months to go and billions of lines of code to be checked. After bug fixes again checking is needed and most of the code is executed on demand that means the code will execute only when it is called so it is not easy to test the program in all test cases to be Y2K bug free with so little time in hand. Another problem is most of the programs are dependant on the Operating System, Third party modules and many other things that makes it more hard to debug. Also the automation that is used all over the world is so wide spread and so diverse in nature it is nearly impossible to catch up with time. Then, where are we? At least this is wake up time to see what we are. We have been thinking that through science we can do everything but today it looks that science will not be able to beat the time that is skipping so fast. Bible says in Romans 1:21 "Professing to be wise, they became fools." Yes we call ourselves wise but even could not think that two digits of year can become such a big problem. But still God's creation, Human Mind's capability is still far better than any invention on the face of the world. God has created us with a purpose and has given the operating manual in the form of His Word "Bible". When we have problem do we turn to His Word, which is our operating manual. He has called us to become Holy and glorify Him through our lives, are we fulfilling the call? Matthew 20:16 "So the last will be first, and the first last. For many are called, but few chosen." Are you a person who can say that you are chosen of God? If Not I will request you to turn your life into the Hands of Jesus and become His Chosen. Remember, Many are called but few are chosen. May the Lord lead you in to His ways.
As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
