EDITORIAL
Many times we go through situations when we feel afraid and anxious. Why we feel like that? Because we think and think on negative things. In Hindi there is a phrase, "man hi hamara sabse bada dushman hai" means "Our mind is our greatest enemy" We think about those things which never happened and not going to happens and finally it becomes a reality, of course not in the real world but in our own mind. The more we think the more we feel afraid and anxious. Some years back when I was doing my masters degree in a local college during that period, Hindu-Muslim riots took place. Many girls were kidnapped in broad daylight. A great fear came into my heart. The more I thought of going to college the more I felt afraid. Finally I wrote to a man of God, unfortunately he is not in this world now… and he wrote back to me saying, "before you leave your house read Psalm 91(You can read whole psalm 91 by clicking this above link) and leave every thing in the hands of God and He will take care of you." I read those verses again and again until they started echoing from my mind and there was no place for the words of the enemy. I felt great peace in my heart and a great confidence came into my heart that God would protect me from all evil. Yes, my friend, many times we go through fear and anxiety because of our thoughts. But if we read and meditate on the words of God He will protect our thoughts that we need not worry or fear for anything. That's why the Bible says in Colossians 3:16, " Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly." And when you allow God's word to go through your mind and echo out of your mind then all the promises of God for you will lift you up. Thus says the Lord
Today if you talk to a person and if you ask what his/her opinion about God is? You may get the reply, "Oh, yea we believe in God that there is a God but miracle days are over… He does not speak today…He does not communicate today, He does not perform miracles…." But if you read in the Bible we can find these words, "word of the LORD came to….." "Thus says the LORD:.." almost in every chapter of the Bible. The God who was speaking until the time of Jesus and after the time of Jesus can He stop speaking today? Does He became dumb or deaf that He can not talk to us or can not hear our cry? Let us see what the Bible says about it, first we look at the qualities of God:1. He is unchanging God: The Bible says in Malachi 3:6 "For I am the LORD, I do not change." And also the Bible says in Hebrews 13:8, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever." Yes, He is the God who changes not, His qualities are the same as in the beginning. If He spoke yesterday, He will speak today also. He is not a God who can not listen or who can not speak. He is very much alive today to listen to your cry and give reply to your problems. One of our tenents has a 2 and ˝ years old daughter. Whenever she would come to our house, she would pick up the receiver of telephone and without dialing or without waiting to think who is at the other side, start speaking, "Dad, when you will come back, please bring candies for me…." After hanging up she joyfully explains that her father listened to her request and will be bringing so many candies for her. She used to think that her father is always there to listen at other end though she was unable to see. Same thing happens when we pray to God though we can not see Him but He is always at the other end to listen to us and talk to us.2. He is a miracle working God: Judges 6:13 Gideon said to Him, "O my lord, if the LORD is with us, why then has all this happened to us? And where are all His miracles which our fathers told us about, saying, 'Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt?' Here we see that Gideon asked the angel of the Lord doubting, "If God is with us then where are all His miracles?" But later we see how God performed mighty miracles in the life of Gideon and the lives of the Israelites. Yes, God is a God of miracle. He can do the same thing which He did in the lives of others. Miracle days are not yet over, they are here. If you look to God for a miracle He will never let you down. Amen
Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 14th Oct. 2008
As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 14th Oct. 2008
Printed Version of the Magazine
