If we read the book of 1st Samuel, we see that there was a man called Elkanah. And he had two wives named Hannah and Peninnah. Hannah was a barren woman and had no child and very often when Peninnah makes fun of her she gets hurt and used to cry. She had a loving husband but her heart was broken and she could not bear the pain of not having a child. And the Bible says in 1 Samuel 1:6-7, "her rival(Peninnah) also provoked her severely, to make her miserable, because the LORD had closed her womb. So it was, year by year, when she went up to the house of the LORD, that she provoked her; therefore she wept and did not eat."

Many times when we go through problems people mock at us and bring much added pain in our lives. And some one said, "When you laugh, the whole world will laugh with you but when you cry, you have to cry all alone!" Yes, Many times we face such a painful situation in our day today lives when we feel that there is no one to understand us, there is no one to console us or comfort us. But look at Hannah. She went before the almighty God and the Bible says in 1 Samuel 1:10, "And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to the LORD and wept in anguish." Oh, she poured out her heart before the throne of almighty God even she forgot herself and Eli(Priest) thought that she was drunk as the Bible says in 1 Samuel 1:13, "Now Hannah spoke in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard. Therefore Eli thought she was drunk." When Eli asked her, she replied that she is not drunk but a women of sorrowful spirit."

Yes, my friend, are you in pain today because you could not get your hearts desire, because of broken dreams and the world is mocking at you? Are you in pain because you got married long back but you do not have a child? Look to Jesus, He is ready to wipe away all your tears. If we further read we can see that her prayers were answered 1 Samuel 1:18, "…So the woman went her way and ate, and her face was no longer sad." At the same time she could not get what she asked for but in her heart she got an assurance from God and that was why the Bible says, "She went her way and ate, and her face was no longer sad." When God gives an answer to your prayers this happens. Situations around you will not change immediately but a great peace will come into your heart and you will never think of your problems. Instead of thinking of your problems you will be filled with joy that God has already answered your prayers.

And if we read in 1 Samuel 1:20, "So it came to pass in the process of time that Hannah conceived and bore a son, and called his name Samuel, saying, "Because I have asked for him from the LORD."

Yes, my friend, no matter what may be the situation you are going through, Jesus is able to solve your problem. There is no situation too big or no situation too small for Him.

If you have any prayer request please feel free to send it to us. We will pray for you.

LET US RAISE OUR STANDARDS

By Vinod Isaac

When we read Leviticus 11:45, 19:2, 20:7, 20:26, 21:8 we find that God is saying "Be Holy for I the Lord am Holy" From Genesis to Revelation God of the Bible is talking about Holiness. Peter referring to the same, exhorts us to be holy in 1 Pet 1:15, "but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct,
1 Pet 1:16 because it is written, "Be holy, for I am holy."

So what is the level of holiness we should have?

Above verses clearly state that we need to compare our righteousness with God's righteousness. Because God is Holy, we have to be holy and not because our neighbor is holy or our friend is holy. So we here have a comparison of our holiness with God's Holiness. Most of the time we look at people around us and get satisfied that so and so is doing that, so I can also do that, or it is a fashion so there is no problem, or it is a different time we are living in so for us it is ok. No Sir. we have to be Holy Because our Lord our God is holy.

Not only are we to be holy, but we are to be holy in all our conduct, that is what St. Peter is trying to tell us.

How do we obtain holiness in our lives?

God says in Leviticus 21:8 and 22:32 that "I am the Lord who sanctifies you". If it is not the Lord who does this how difficult it is to live a holy life, it is impossible to get rid of sinful habits and sinful nature. But here our God is saying that He will sanctify us. He will give us holiness.

1 Peter 1:18 and 19 says that we who have sold ourselves as slaves to sin are being redeemed from the slavery of sin by the precious blood of Jesus Christ. St Peter is talking to a group of people who have already received redemption through the blood of Jesus Christ. These are the people who have put faith in Jesus and accepted Jesus in their heart as their Lord and Savior, who have committed their lives in the hand of Jesus.

After we are redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ we begin to experience a change in our lives. Because God sanctifies us and starts changing our life. It happens exactly as it is written in 2 Cor 5:17, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."

There are two key ingredients of growing in Christian life.

1. Word of God:

Many times we tend to stay just where we are, but God wants us to grow in Him, that is why Peter says in 1 Pet 2:2 "as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, " that means we need to read the Word of God daily and need to be fed spiritually daily. Jesus said in Mathew 4:4 "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.'" Every Word that proceeds out of God brings nourishment and growth in our life. So we need to be deep rooted in His word.

Psalmist says the very same thing in Psalm 1:1-2
Psalm 1:1, "Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful."
Psalm 1:2, "But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night."

Also Psalm 119:9 says, "How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word."
and Psalm 199:11 says, "Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You!"
Psalm 119:105 says, "Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path."

Is the Word of God hidden in your heart? Do you meditate on His word day and night? Do you read His word diligently? Check out in your life. The only way you can grow in the Lord and keep yourself away from sin is to be deep rooted in the Word of God. If you do not have a Bible go and buy one today and start reading it.

2. Prayer

Jesus said in Luke 22:46 Then He said to them, "Why do you sleep? Rise and pray, lest you enter into temptation." and in Mark 14:38 Jesus said "Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." In Mark 13:33 Jesus said "Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is."

again Bible says in
1 Th 5:17-18 "pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."

and in Philippians 4:6,7 Bible says
"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."

When we pray the offering of thanks is one of the important factors that we very often forget. We need to give thanks to the Lord for every thing He has done for us. We need to place our needs before Him. We need to do supplications for others. We need to talk to God through prayer. And when we do all these things The God of peace will guard our hearts and minds in Peace through Jesus Christ.

May the Lord grant you grace to read His Word and Pray diligently.

JESUS SAID I AM THE BEGINNING AND THE END

By Sheela Isaac

Revelation 22:13, "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last." Yes, Lord Jesus said these everlasting words. He was at the beginning and He will be at the end, He will be forever and ever. Let us see how?

1. Jesus is from the beginning:

Genesis 1:26, "Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness;.......". This verse says that God was not alone at the time of creation of the world. Somebody was with Him and that was why He said "LET US", and it was Jesus who was with God all the time even at the time the when world was created. The following verses also say the same thing. John 1:1-3, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God" 2. "He was in the beginning with God." 3. "All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made". The same Jesus who was with God at the beginning came down as a man to save you and me. John 1:14, "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth." If you read the whole chapter of John 1 you will find that John the Baptist was speaking about Jesus.

Jesus is the God who is from the beginning. He created us. He loved us. He wanted to have fellowship with us. He gave mankind a freewill to do what ever we want to do. He did not make us as robots so that He can press a button and the machine will start doing the things according to the wishes of the creator. Because of freewill, man is free to do anything.

Yes my friend we are free to chose good or evil.
We are free to chose right or wrong.
We have a free will to accept God's greatness or reject Him.
We are free to receive eternal life or eternal damnation.
We are free to receive salvation or reject it.
We are free to chose for ourselves HEAVEN or HELL....

2. Jesus came to die for us:

When the Lord saw that the very same man whom He created, fell in sin; When God saw that the very same man for whom He gave freewill, chose evil rather than good; When He saw that the same man rejected His greatness, and failed to obey Him; God felt very sad. But again it is His love and greatness that He decided to regain the lost mankind. He decided to bring that mankind, to the same holiness and likeness of God from where man fell.

Only for this purpose He sent His only and only begotten son JESUS. Jesus came to die on behalf of me and you. He came to save us from eternal damnation. He came to pull us out from the hands of devil. Yes, my friend, He shed His precious blood to save you. Yes, He did everything on the Cross for you to give you a place in heaven. Think about it, how great His love is, how great His mercy is that He took the punishment on Himself for which He did not sin, and for the sins which we committed and He paid the price instead of us.

Have you ever received Him as your Lord and Savior? Have you ever said to Him come Lord come into my life and save me from my sins? Have you ever thought about that, that you need a place in heaven? Jesus did everything on the Cross but you need to do only a simple thing. You have to receive it by faith. It is so easy. Many times people think, Jesus has already done everything so I will be reaching heaven straight away." That is a foolish idea. Let not the devil deceive you.

You may be born in a Christian family but still you need this experience. You need to get saved. Read these verses and see what it says:

John 1:12, "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name". "THOSE WHO RECEIVED HIM" only those will be His children.

John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Again "WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM" will be saved.

John 3:18 "He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Mathew 4:17, "From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." Mark 1:15 says, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel." Luke 13:3, "I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish."
Again these verses say "UNLESS YOU REPENT YOU WILL PERISH".

All these verses says again and again you need to believe on Him, you need to receive Him, you need to repent from your sins to reach heaven.

Yes my friend have you ever repented from your sins? If not, repent today and make your heart right with God, before it is too late. Life is too short. So do not wait for tomorrow. Tomorrow may be too late.

3. Jesus is forever and ever upto the end:

He said I am the beginning and the end, I am the first and the last. Revelation 22:12, "And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. He is coming again to give the rewards. Yes He is going to come as king and judge. 1 Peter 4:5, "They will give an account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead".

There will be two groups of people. Mathew 25:31-33, "When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. 32, "All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats." 33, "And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. Mathew 25:34, "Then the King will say to those on His right hand, 'Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world." Mathew 25:41, "Then He will also say to those on the left hand, 'Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels."

He is coming again to give the reward. There will be two groups of people. One will be at His right hand side and other will be at left hand side.

one is SAVED and other is UNSAVED.
One is HOLY and other is UNHOLY.
One is BLOOD WASHED other is DEFILED.

In which group do you belong today? Think about it and decide today for Christ. Whether you want to reach heaven or not, whether you want to get saved or not, whether you want a place in heaven or not. If you feel that you need the forgiveness from sins. Please pray this prayer with your whole heart:

Lord Jesus I am a sinner. I am not sure today whether I will reach heaven or not. I do not know whether I have a place in heaven or not. Please come into my heart. Wash me with your precious blood and make me whole and holy. Lord today I accept you as my Lord and Savior. Lord I commit my life totally into your hand. From now on you are my God. All the days of my life I will follow you and live a holy life. I pray in Jesus name. Amen.
