Eph 6:11-13, "Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand."The above verses talk about spiritual warfare waged by every believer's soul. You cannot see those invisible enemies with your naked eyes but they are mighty to harm you. That is the reason why apostle Paul says, "our war is not against flesh and blood but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places." From this description of Paul you can see that a believer in Christ is not dealing with ordinary folks but against very high delegates, high officials, executives, prince, princess and rulers of darkness who have power to bring chaos, destruction and havoc in one's life.Many take it very lightly and think that the devil does not have power to harm a child of God. Of course he does not have power if you are fully armed and constantly ready for the spiritual battle. But if you are unprotected, without the spiritual armors, while standing in front of the enemy, he could easily kill you. When God told us that the elections in USA 2004 is a spiritual battle and that the strongholds of the devil must come crumbling down, we knew that this war was not an ordinary one, but a war in the heavenlies and that it cannot be won by any other means except by the anointing of the Holy Spirit. Bible tells us in Isa 10:27, "It shall come to pass in that day That his burden will be taken away from your shoulder, And his yoke from your neck, And the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing oil." Bible also tells us in 2 Cor 10:4, "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;" President George W. Bush's success in his re-election is no accident but it is the result of the prayers of millions across the country. The exit polls taken in different places also indicated that Kerry would win but actual results reversed everything. Yes, prayers can change things. These powers of darkness not only control lives of people but also cities and nations. If you do not have power from above, you cannot defeat them but either you will have to turn back and run away from your enemy or you will be killed. That is the reason why Jesus commanded His disciples in Acts 1:4 not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, "which," He said, "you have heard from Me; (Acts 1:4). And He said further, "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.(Acts 1:8)"Today also we need this power from above to defeat the enemy and to win our battles. God has not left us alone without power but He promised to come and live with us and give us power to overcome the world. When the disciples received Holy Spirit, their lives got transformed. The same disciples who were afraid to face the soldiers at the time of Jesus' crucifixion but when they got filled with Holy Spirit they became so bold that they were even ready to die for Jesus. That's what Holy Spirit does for an ordinary person. If you want this power, come to Jesus and ask Him. There is only one condition to be fulfilled, that is, you must have received forgiveness of your sins. If you are washed by the blood of Jesus, you are eligible to receive this marvelous gift.
Today in this world we see so much chaos. Even many born again Christians live in depression, many have broken homes, many are divorced or separated, they have fighting within their walls and have no peace. One may ask how and why a child of God should suffer like this and how they came to be in this misery? Has not Jesus promised peace and joy for those who come to Him?Yes, it is true that Jesus promised to take away the burdens of our heart and to give us peace and joy that this world cannot give. But once saved is not always saved. After receiving the experience of salvation, you have to walk constantly in the ways of God and keep your garments white. There are three ways you can do that:1. Reading the Bible:If you want a successful life, if you want a prosperous life, you need to read your Bible and take care to do according to the word of God. After the death of Moses, Joshua became the leader of the Israelites and God gave him basic instruction as we read in Josh 1:8, "This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success."Reading the Bible will take away your worries and heartbreaks and will give you peace. Once I read about a man of God who worked for God with great zeal. But one day his son died. It broke the heart of that godly man and his wife. Both started reading the Bible for hours. For many hours they read the Bible and God's word comforted them and restored their lives. Are you broken hearted? Have you lost your loved one? Are you going through terrible problems, you need the life giving word of God which can heal you and fill you with peace.2. Praying in Spirit:When we pray in Holy Spirit, He Himself makes intercession for us with groanings as we read in Rom 8:26, "Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered."There are times when you do not know what to pray and what not. When you are in pain and sorrow, you may not be in condition to pray and if you are filled with the Holy Spirit, in those times Holy Spirit will help to pray exactly what you need and what is you exact condition. That is the reason why apostle Paul says in 1 Cor 14:14-15 For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful. What is the conclusion then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with the understanding. I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with the understanding."For a believer it is necessary to pray with understanding as well as with the Holy Spirit. Bible also tell us in Jude 1:20-21, "But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life."3. Fellowship with the believers:For a believer in Christ it is necessary to have fellowship with the other believers who believe in sound doctrines of Bible. Fellowship helps a person to grow in the Lord and correct himself/herself from wrong doctrines or wrong things. Psalmist says in Psa 94:20, "Shall the throne of iniquity, which devises evil by law, Have fellowship with You?" God hates sin and He cannot have fellowship with evil. In the same way a Christian should depart from evil and live a holy life. The first Church stood in the doctrine of the apostles and had fellowship as we read in Acts 2:42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.Today also it is very important to stand in the apostle's doctrines and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. But we see so much chaos in our Churches because somewhere we have misunderstood and underestimated the power of enemy and denied to receive take the power of Holy Spirit to fight the devil. God has provided a way to overcome the world by the mighty power of Holy Spirit. You need not to live a miserable life, you need not to be in chaos, you need not to be a defeated Christian because Jesus overcame the world. You can be victorious in every field of your life. Jesus Himself said in John 16:33 "These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."Yes, my friend, come to Jesus and if you have not yet received the promised "Holy Spirit", ask to Him. Jesus said in Luke 11:13, "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!" If you are a saved child of God, these blessings are all yours. Just ask Him and He will give you. He will help you to come out of your disaster and make your life a blessing.
