"He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.(Psa 91:15)"We all know about the terrible tragedy of Tsunami which happened in last December that wiped away hundreds of lives, belongings and even villages. Supermodel Petra Nemcova was vacationing with her boyfriend in Thailand. On 26th Dec., they were about to leave when tsunami hit. Petra Nemcova survived after clinging to a treetop for about eight hours but her boyfriend was killed. With tears she told her survival story and said, "I got a second chance to live..."But not so with those who call upon the name of the Lord. Dayalan Sanders who is a missionary who works on the costs of Sri Lanka, established a small orphanage called Samaritan Children home. His website is http://www.samaritanchildrenshome.org On 26th Dec. his wife frightened beyond imagination came running to him saying "The sea is coming!" she said. "Come! Come! Look at the sea!". When he looked towards the sea he could not believe it. The waves were thirty feet high. Sea was roaring and was black. CBN news says, “It was like a marauding force, like a thousand freight trains charging at [us] at the same time."Sanders knew that he had very little time, he yelled at the top of his lungs and asked everyone to run to the boat which he started with one pull to the starter cord. The sea was continuously gaining strength. Sanders feared for their lives thinking that the small boat would soon be engulfed in the sea waters. At that point he remembered the Bible verse written in the book of Isaiah, "when the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall raise up a standard against it." And he spoke to the waves saying, "I command you in the name of Jesus, stop!'" As soon as he rebuked the sea the waves seemed to slow down and go sluggish. God did a mighty miracle in the lives of Sanders and 28 orphan children. Mighty waves of Tsunami could not sweep them away because he called the name of Jesus. How true the psalmist's word is who says in Psa 91:15, "He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him."Very often we all go through tough times in our lives but in those times of trouble if we call upon His name He will help us and deliver us from our problems. The reason why He delivers a person is as written in Psa 91:14, "Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name."If you are a child of God, if you know Him personally, He will answer you in the time of trouble. He will not hide His face from you. But if you are a child of God, you can become one just by praying this prayer with all your heart. Lord Jesus, I want to set my love upon you, I want to know your name and want to walk in your ways. Till this time I have not known you nor your love for me but today I invite you as my Lord and Savior. Please come into my life and make me a new person. Give me the right to become your child. Thank you for listening to my prayer. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
Most Desperate Prayer of David
"O LORD, I pray, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness!" (2 Sam 15:31).This was the prayer of David when he and his servants were fleeing for their lives. Absalom his own son was against him and wanted to overthrow his kingdom. In all those years David faced several calamities in his life but this was the greatest of all. David, his men and the whole country wept as they crossed over Brook Kidron. More than that his loyal counselor and friend Ahithophel who was with David from his youth had now became his enemy. Bible tells us that the counsel of Ahithophel was very wise as if it came directly from God. We read in 2 Sam 16:23, "Now the advice of Ahithophel, which he gave in those days, was as if one had inquired at the oracle of God. So was all the advice of Ahithophel both with David and with Absalom."No wonder David was worried and heart broken when he heard that Ahithophel became his enemy and was going to counsel his son Absalom. In his desperation he called upon the name of the Lord and prayed the most desperate prayer ever as we read in 2 Sam 15:31, "O LORD, I pray, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness!"If we read further we can understand that Ahithophel's counsel would have been dangerous for David and his men if Absalom heeded to his counsel. But God purposed to defeat the good advice of Ahithophel so that Absalom and the men of Israel did not act on the good counsel of Ahithophel. God heard the desperate cry of David and saved him and his men from destruction. Back in India our house was situated near a highway, from where we could have panoramic view. In those days our lives were in danger because of our ministry and as many tried to kill us. I remember that every morning I woke up praying, "O Lord, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness!" Whole day I repeated this line again and again several times in a day. It was amazing how God saved our lives in a very miraculous way. At the corner of the block in small tea shops several men would stand in wait for my brother. But we noticed that a few moments before my brother comes back home, they all would disappear from there. We lived there and everyday for more than two years they sought us but could not catch us nor could they harm us. That's what happens when God puts confusion among your enemies. You may be facing "Ahithophels" in your life today. But let me tell you about a mighty God who will look at your enemies and startle them. He will confuse them and will make a way for you. Problems came in the life of David but it could not drown him and it could not destroy his life. The same God said in Isa 43:2, "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you."Are you thinking that you may not be able to make it this time? Are you afraid of your enemies? Are your problems mounting like big mountain? No matter what your problem may be today, come to Jesus. Give your life to Jesus, He can help you. He will startle your enemies and will scatter them. The problems you are facing is not going to consume you but God will help you to come out of all your troubles.
Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 14th Sep. 2010
As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 14th Sep. 2010
