As we are at the end of this year 2012 and as we look back and think about the year, some may think, "what a great year it was" but some will shake their heads and say, "oh, what a terrible year it was." No matter what you say, finally this year will be history in a few days. And I can say that if you have given your life in the mighty hands of Jesus, nothing can shake you. No amount of trouble can destroy your life because Jesus Himself will be your protector. Sometimes things happen and we feel very discouraged, disappointed and bitter. But if our lives are in the hands of God, we need not to be discouraged because He will take care of everything.

Once my sister wrote this story of a boy who was very poor but who loved God. He was working in a factory to earn his wages to keep his family. He was the only breadwinner for his family. Every day when he used to go for work his mother would pack some food for him in a piece of dirty cloth so that he may not go hungry. One day as usual he went outside of the factory to have his lunch. He sat under a tree and untied the knot of the cloth package. Then he closed his eyes for a moment of prayer to thank God for the food. Suddenly out of the blue a dog came in and snatched his packet away. He screamed and ran toward the dog to get his packet back but of no use. He ran and ran but could not succeed in catching the dog. So finally in his desperation he decided to get back to his work. As he approached the door of the factory he found that it was already locked. Then only he realized that his lunchtime was already over and that as he was late, he cannot get inside the factory. So he began to cry thinking what a day it was, "First I lost my lunch box and now I am late to my work. So I will not be able to receive today’s wages. What am I going to do now? How am I going to face my family and tell them that we do not have money for tomorrow to buy any food."

As he was crying and thinking about his fate suddenly he heard a loud noise. There was an explosion in the factory. Later he found out that the explosion was in his section where he was working and most of his co-workers had died. He could not believe it. Then only he realized that God was so good that He sent the dog to carry away his lunch box that he could escape from that deadly explosion. If the dog had not come to take away his lunch box he might have died by that time as his colleagues.

Some times things happen because God wants to direct us to a different direction or to protect us or to make us to reach where He wants us to be. In the natural it seems difficult and painful but His mighty hands will hold you and will not allow you to be destroyed.

Probably you are in pain and sorrow today and like that boy who lost his food and work hours you may be thinking, what a year it was, but if you have given your life to Jesus then your life is safe in the hands of God. The moment you give your life to Jesus and the moment you became a child of God, He will take care of you, He will guide you and He will provide for you all what you need. Therefore we should not worry about our lives but be looking towards Him everyday, trusting in Him everyday, walking before Him uprightly forgetting what had happened in the last months or year. Rest is His job to lead us and protect us.

Psalmist says in Psalms 27:1-6, "The LORD is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked came against me To eat up my flesh, My enemies and foes, They stumbled and fell. Though an army may encamp against me, My heart shall not fear; Though war should rise against me, In this I will be confident. One thing I have desired of the LORD, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the LORD, And to inquire in His temple. For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock. And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me; Therefore I will offer sacrifices of joy in His tabernacle; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the LORD."

Happy New Year 2013!

2013 will be a Year of Open Doors

By Sherly Isaac

Bible tells us that God opens door for His children who keeps His word. We read in Revelation 3:7-8 "And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write, 'These things says He who is holy, He who is true, "He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens: I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name."

The doors which God opens, no one can shut and the doors which God shuts no one can open. In the Old Testament we read the story of Noah and his ark. God commanded Noah to build the ark so that he and his family could escape from the coming judgment of God on the earth. People sinned against God and lived wickedly. God did not like the ways of men and so He spoke to Noah, a righteous man and gave him the whole plan for making an ark. When finally the ark was completed, God told him to go inside of the ark with his family. God also told him (Genesis 6:19-21) to take all the animals, birds and creatures with them in to the ark as we read, "And of every living thing of all flesh you shall bring two of every sort into the ark, to keep them alive with you; they shall be male and female. Of the birds after their kind, of animals after their kind, and of every creeping thing of the earth after its kind, two of every kind will come to you to keep them alive. And you shall take for yourself of all food that is eaten, and you shall gather it to yourself; and it shall be food for you and for them."

When we read further in the 7th chapter, Bible tells us how Noah and his family went in the ark, how the animals and creatures came in the ark and how God Himself shut the door of the ark. Genesis 7:16, "So those that entered, male and female of all flesh, went in as God had commanded him; and the LORD shut him in."

Before God shut Noah in, God provided a way and opened a door for Noah so that he and his family could escape from death and destruction. Through that opened door, Noah and his family could enter into the ark and were saved from the flood.

Similarly God will open doors for those who fear His holy name. He will not allow you to die with the wicked. His mighty hand will protect you from destruction. And He will make ways where there is no way at all.

Now there was a door and a window in the ark. Noah was able to close or open the window but the door was shut by God Himself. This shut door protected Noah from the wicked people around him. They could not enter in the ark. Flood waters rose and people might have tried to jump inside the ark but they could not because God Himself had closed the door of the ark.

The same God who opened the door for Noah and shut him in safety will do the same for you. He will protect you from all harms.

Then further we read that Noah entered the ark on the 600th year of his life, on the 17th day of the 2nd month (Genesis 7:11-13). Noah left the ark on the 27th day of the 2nd month of the following year (Genesis 8:14-15). Therefore, assuming a lunar calendar of 360 days, Noah was in the ark for approximately 370 days.

Genesis 7:24 & Genesis 8:1 says that, "And the waters prevailed on the earth one hundred and fifty days. Then God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the animals that were with him in the ark. And God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters subsided."

More than one year Noah was shut inside the ark but God did not forget that Noah was inside the ark. Once again a time came when God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters subsided then He told Noah to open the door and to come out of the ark. Genesis 8:15-19, Then God spoke to Noah, saying, Go out of the ark, you and your wife, and your sons and your sons' wives with you. Bring out with you every living thing of all flesh that is with you: birds and cattle and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, so that they may abound on the earth, and be fruitful and multiply on the earth." So Noah went out, and his sons and his wife and his sons' wives with him. Every animal, every creeping thing, every bird, and whatever creeps on the earth, according to their families, went out of the ark."

Do you feel that you are stuck in some place and unable to come out of that place? Do you say that wherever you turn, you see walls around you and there is no way out? But I believe that this year God will open some shut doors which are closed from long time in your life. Probably you have prayed and prayed and it seemed that those doors will never open again but God will answer your prayers in this year. He will deliver you as He did deliver Noah and His family. He will not forget you but He will visit you.

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 8th Dec.. 2015

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
