By Sherly Isaac

God called Moses to go and deliver the Israelites from the oppression of Egypt. But we see that Moses was not so smart or bold enough and he was very much hesitant to go for this big work that God put in his hands. He made so many excuses and wanted to escape from taking up that responsibility. Yet finally he got ready to go anyway. Before going he asked God his last question that is given in Exodus 4:1, "But suppose they will not believe me or listen to my voice; suppose they say, 'The LORD has not appeared to you."

And in answer to that God gave him three signs which he could perform before the Israelite to convince them so that they could believe him. as we read in Exodus 4:2-9, So the LORD said to him, "What is that in your hand?" He said, "A rod." And He said, "Cast it on the ground." So he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from it. Then the LORD said to Moses, "Reach out your hand and take it by the tail" (and he reached out his hand and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand), that they may believe that the LORD God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you. Furthermore the LORD said to him, "Now put your hand in your bosom." And he put his hand in his bosom, and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous, like snow. And He said, "Put your hand in your bosom again." So he put his hand in his bosom again, and drew it out of his bosom, and behold, it was restored like his other flesh. Then it will be, if they do not believe you, nor heed the message of the first sign, that they may believe the message of the latter sign. And it shall be, if they do not believe even these two signs, or listen to your voice, that you shall take water from the river and pour it on the dry land. And the water which you take from the river will become blood on the dry land."

Indeed when Moses reached Egypt, people, pharaoh and even the Israelites did not believe him. Times were difficult for him as the king hardened his heart and introduced further hardship to the Israelites. Pharaoh the king of Egypt was not ready to believe in the words of Moses. At times Moses was very disappointed and did not know what to do. He saw opposition not only from the Egyptians and the king of Egypt but also from his own people. They spoke ill of him and accused him for the additional hardship that came in their lives. In those odd circumstances the only ray of hope with Moses was the assurance that God spoke to him from the midst of the burning bush. That encounter with God was the only driving force that made him to keep on going. God sent him on a mission and still every thing did not go as smooth as butter. He had to go through much heartbreak, many difficult moments and many tearful events, and it was not easy to stand before the king. Moses could have lost his head because of his insistence in telling king again and again 'let the Israelites go'. But the only thing that sustained him was that he had met God and that was such a profound experience in his life that he could not go back.

Even today, when God speaks something, does not mean that the road ahead will be smooth and clear for you. Trials and temptations will come, opposition will come, heartbreaks and tears will come but the only thing is that God will help you to reach the goal for the work He entrusts in your hand. He will be with you and He will not leave you nor forsake you just as He did not and was with Moses and the Israelites through out leading them through the wilderness never allowing them to fall a victim to their enemies.

When Jesus was about to leave this world, He said to His disciples, "lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.

If you have given your life to Jesus, He will be with you and He will be your help all the days of your life. If you have not yet given your life to Jesus, this is the time for you to give your life to Jesus.

An Eternal Home

By Sherly Isaac

Jesus said in John 14:1-2, ""Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you."

A homeless person can understand the difficulties of not having a home of his own. Those who have already a home to live in do not think much about it. But it is always a great thing to have a place where you can live, and a place that you can call your own.

In the Old Testament we read about Joseph who was forced to leave his family behind as he was sold and was taken to Egypt. After years of hardship, tears and setbacks finally he had not only his own home but he also became lord of the land. When his brothers came to him and when he revealed himself to them he told them that they should not be worrying about things which they possessed in that land as we read in Genesis 45:20,"'Also do not be concerned about your goods, for the best of all the land of Egypt is yours.' "

Jesus said the same thing to His disciples "Let not your heart be troubled... I go to prepare a place for you." And that place is so wonderful that you will enjoy everything of God's goodness and blessings in that land. That land is fairer than the sun. In that land there is no tear, no death, no sorrow but only everlasting joy in the presence of the almighty God.

But how you can get into that wonderful land?
1. By getting forgiveness of your sins:
Jesus said in John 8:24, "Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins."

Jesus also said that He is the only way to heaven as we read in John 14:6, "Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."

Jesus gave His precious life for us so that we could have forgiveness of our sins and we could enter in heaven. Now we have to just come to Him and ask for forgiveness of our sins.

2. By living a Holy Life:
Jesus said that, "Be holy as I am holy" and also that, "without holiness no one can see God". Though getting salvation and forgiveness of our sins is the first step toward our eternal home yet we need to constantly live a holy life according to the will of God.

Psalmist says in Psalms 15:1-5, "A Psalm of David. LORD, who may abide in Your tabernacle? Who may dwell in Your holy hill? He who walks uprightly, And works righteousness, And speaks the truth in his heart; He who does not backbite with his tongue, Nor does evil to his neighbor, Nor does he take up a reproach against his friend; In whose eyes a vile person is despised, But he honors those who fear the LORD; He who swears to his own hurt and does not change; He who does not put out his money at usury, Nor does he take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things shall never be moved."

So holy life is important and without holiness no one can enter in heaven.

My friend, Jesus died on the cruel cross to give us entry to this wonderful land where there is only peace and joy. Who does not want to enter in that land? And it is very simple to enter in this land, just come to Jesus, repent from your sins and give your life to Him.

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 8th Dec.. 2015

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
