Once I read the story of a king. This king was a very devout man who worshipped his gods with much enthusiasm. One day the god whom he worshiped appeared before him and said, "I am very much pleased with your devotion. So whatever you ask, I will give to you." The king thought for a moment and said, "I would like to have this gift that whatever I touch would become gold." So the god said, "Granted"! Now the king was very much excited and was touching everything whatever he could and everything turned to gold. Every time when a thing turned to gold, his excitement grew. Then he saw his little daughter coming to him. He stooped down and took her in his arms and as he touched the little girl she became gold as well in his arms. When he saw the lifeless gold statue of his daughter, he was so shocked that he could not control himself and wept bitterly. Now he was very much desperate wishing not to have that gift. And when food was served, as soon as he touched the food, it became gold and now he cried more. He thought what a bad day it was for me and he really regretted.Bible says in Proverbs 10:22, "The blessing of the LORD makes one rich, And He adds no sorrow with it." God wants to bless us with His goodness that all His plans are good for His children. Bible also talks about spiritual poverty in our lives. Many could have access to riches and wealth but they have not found the spiritual gold that God wants to give us. Jesus said in Revelation 3:17-18, "Because you say, 'I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing'; and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked; I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see."We are spiritually poor because of our sins. When Adam and Eve sinned against God, they lost all the blessings and also the presence of God. But Jesus came in this world and gave His precious life for us so that we could get rid of all kinds of poverty and we could have eternal life. He shed His precious blood on the cruel cross to purchase pardon for our sins. There is no other way that we could get the forgiveness of our sins except through the blood of Jesus.Many people have tried to find salvation through their own efforts or by sacrificing their children or by going on pilgrimages. But at the end they find nothing except desperation and disappointments. But we can get forgiveness of our sins just by coming to Jesus. Repent from your sins and turn to Him. When Jesus was in this world, He urged people to repent and turn from their evil ways. Today, also it is necessary to repent from our sins and invite Jesus in our lives. When He will come in, He will not only forgive and forget all our sins but also will give us eternal life.
Once Jesus spoke two parables and tried to illustrate what the condition of human being is. In Luke 15:1-7 we read the first story, "Then all the tax collectors and the sinners drew near to Him to hear Him. And the Pharisees and scribes complained, saying, "This Man receives sinners and eats with them." So He spoke this parable to them, saying: "What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!' I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance."Like this sheep who was lost, we are also lost in sin. Jesus came searching for the lost, to save them from eternal damnation. Jesus said in Luke 9:56, "For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men's lives but to save them." Then he spoke another parable of the Lost Coin in Luke 15:8-10, "Or what woman, having ten silver coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it? And when she has found it, she calls her friends and neighbors together, saying, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found the piece which I lost!' Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents."In these parables we can see the sadness of losing things and the joy of finding them back. It is a sad day when we loose some valuable thing but if we get it back what joy it brings in our lives. When Adam and Even sinned against God, they lost their joy and peace. They lost eternal life and sin and death entered in this world. But Jesus came searching for us. He left heaven to find us. He is standing at your heart's door and knocking. Would you hear His voice and allow Him to come in to your life? Revelation 3:20, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me."If you do so, you will never be the same again. He will give you eternal life and He will fill you with great joy and peace that this world cannot give.

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
