God promised Abraham that He will make him so great that many kings will come from his descendants as we read in Genesis 17:5, "No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for I have made you a father of many nations. I will make you exceedingly fruitful; and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come from you. And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and your descendants after you. Also I give to you and your descendants after you the land in which you are a stranger, all the land of Canaan, as an everlasting possession; and I will be their God." And God said to Abraham: As for you, you shall keep My covenant, you and your descendants after you throughout their generations."Even on one occasion God took him outside and showed him the stars over the sky and the sand of the ocean and said, your descendants will be as numerous as the above. For a normal person it would have been easy to believe that they will have kids and his descendants will be numerous. But for Abraham it was not easy. He was in his old age; his wife was also in her old age. Both of them were old and Bible tells us in Genesis 17:17 that Abraham was hundred years old and Sarah was ninety years old. Here was the expression of Abraham's amazement when he fell on his face and said laughing, "Shall a child be born to a man who is one hundred years old? And shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a child?"But God of the Bible is 'Promise fulfilling God'. What He speaks, He does. We can see that after the promise, till the time when God's promise was fulfilled there were times of frustration and disappointments for him. There were times when Abraham was so disappointed that he was ready to settle through Ishmael his son. There were times when he might have thought it is completely impossible. Yes, in the natural it was completely impossible for him. But I am sure that when he got those negative thought in his mind, he might have shaken those thoughts and would have looked toward the stars of heaven which would have reminded him of God's promises that one day, his descendents will be numerous like stars... that one day, his descendents would be numerous like the sand of the ocean. Looking forward with the sure hope that one day God will be bringing His promise to come to pass he kept on going. Finally that One Day did come in his life when Isaac was born to him. It was completely impossible in the natural, it was completely impossible even with the present advanced medical science. But Abraham could see that the promise of his own son through Sarah came to pass. Then once again Abraham got a shock when he heard from the Lord that he needs to sacrifice his son Isaac. Wow, what a contrast! On the one side God promised that Abraham will be father of nations but on the other side God wanted him to sacrifice the child born in his old age after waiting for so many years. Negative thought could have come rushing in his mind and he might have thought, "Now what, if I sacrifice the child, what will happen to the promise of God which he gave?" But Abraham believed that God will make a way which emboldened him to tell his son (Genesis 22:8), "And Abraham said, "My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering." So the two of them went together.The same God who gave him a son under such impossible circumstances also provided him a lamb for the sacrifice. God fulfilled each and every promise that He gave to Abraham. God's promises are sure to come to pass. The same God loved us so much that He gave His only son for us so that we could come out of our sins and live a holy life and finally enter into heaven. Would you come to Jesus today?
Matthew 21:21-22, "So Jesus answered and said to them, "Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' it will be done. And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive."Jesus not only spoke these words but also demonstrated performing mighty things to prove that if you ask anything in prayer in Jesus name and believe, all things will be possible with you. I remember my childhood days when we were living in India. Most of the time when neighborhood ladies would come out of their home and stand beside the boundary wall or beside the fence and converse my mom would tell stories of her childhood or of the past. Once she told about her eldest sister that she was very sick unto death and doctors said that she will not survive. So my mom and all the family members cried and prayed for her asking, "Lord please give her at least one year extension because she has very small children." Then she concluded that her sister lived exactly one year after that and she died. Hearing that one lady asked in complete amazement, "why didn't you pray for more years, why you prayed for only one year?" As a child I was standing there listening to those conversations and those words pricked my mind and ringed in my ears day after day. Once a pastor told his experience that one day at the time when he came first to USA that he was having no money left in his pocket and he was hungry. The whole day he prayed, "Lord I need $2 to eat something...". In the evening he went to a prayer meeting and when the meeting was over a lady walked to him and just placed $2 in his hand. When he looked in his hand, he was completely amazed that he got $2. At first he was happy that God answered his prayers but then he fell on his face and wept bitterly. He regretted why he asked for only two dollars and why didn't he ask for more money? Sometime we ask very little or just don't ask that's why we do not receive from God. In the Bible we read in James 4:2, "You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask."Jesus Himself said in John 16:24, "Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full."Let us ask God big things because He is a big God and He can give big things to us. Let us learn to pray bold prayers which could move the mighty hand of God. Bible says in Romans 8:32, "He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?"God gave everything for us even His own Son because He loves us and wants to bless us with every blessing heaven has to offer. You can come at His feet and receive eternal life and all the blessings He has stored for you.

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
