2 Chronicles 33:12-13, "Now when he was in affliction, he implored the LORD his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers, and prayed to Him; and He received his entreaty, heard his supplication, and brought him back to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the LORD was God." If we read 2 Chronicles chapter 33 there we see about Manasseh, son of Hezekiah who did evil in the sight of God. God sent His prophets, but he would not listen to them. And finally God made him to go in to captivity of Assyria. How many times we do the same thing. When problems come, we blame God thinking that He is not listening to us or He is not helping us, but we forget that when He gave blessings in our lives we never tried to seek Him or never tried to praise Him for all the blessings. Manasseh saw the mighty deeds of God which He did in the life of his father Hezekiah and even then he had no heart to seek God. Are you in this situation today? You may be attending Church regularly, you may be in a Christian family, you may be thinking, "I am living a good life." You may know everything about God, but have you ever thought that God wants to live in your very heart. He wants to come and dwell with you? He wants to have fellowship with you. He wants to talk with you, He wants to walk with you. Yes, Manasseh realized this when he was in captivity and in affliction. The above verse says that he humbled himself and prayed to God of his fathers. Are you living in sin and because of it you may be in trouble. Today humble yourself before God and repent of your sins. He will not only forgive and forget your sins, but He will restore whatever you have lost in your life, as He did in the life of Manasseh. Bible says that God brought him back to Jerusalem and then Manasseh knew that the Lord was God. Manasseh met the living God in his life and his life turned around. He became a new person as we read in 2 Chronicles 33:15-16, "He took away the foreign gods and the idol from the house of the LORD, and all the altars that he had built in the mount of the house of the LORD and in Jerusalem; and he cast them out of the city. He also repaired the altar of the LORD, sacrificed peace offerings and thanks offerings on it, and commanded Judah to serve the LORD God of Israel." Yes, when Manasseh repented from his sins and turned from his sins and cleansed himself, he saw the blessings of God in his life. If you want to see blessings in your life repent from your sins and come back to God, get rid of all things which are abomination before God as Manasseh did. He cast the idols out from the house of the Lord. In America many people are crazy for angels. They even worship angels as their God. Let us see what the Bible tells about Angels? Bible says in Colossians 2:18, "Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility and worship of angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind.." Psalms 148:2-5 Praise Him, all His angels; Praise Him, all His hosts! Praise Him, sun and moon; Praise Him, all you stars of light! Praise Him, you heavens of heavens, And you waters above the heavens! Let them praise the name of the LORD, For He commanded and they were created." Angels are mightier than us but they are not mightier than God who created them. So it is important that we should worship God and not angels. 1. Angels are created by God: Bible says in Ezekiel 28:13 -17, "You were in Eden, the garden of God; Every precious stone was your covering: The sardius, topaz, and diamond, Beryl, onyx, and jasper, Sapphire, turquoise, and emerald with gold. The workmanship of your timbrels and pipes Was prepared for you on the day you were created. You were the anointed cherub who covers; I established you; You were on the holy mountain of God; You walked back and forth in the midst of fiery stones."God created Angels. So there is a God who is more powerful than angels. 2. Angels are given to men for their protection: Angels are given for the protection of the children of God as the Bible says in Psalms 91:9, "Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place, No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways. In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone." Few months back I was watching TV news. They showed a woman from GA who was waiting for her friend outside of her car. She entered her car to attend to her baby at the back seat. Suddenly a man jumped into her car and drove away. For a few moments she could not understand what to do? Then she said, "I curse you in Jesus name, you can not do anything wrong with me." She said that the moment she bound him, she felt as if angels took over the situation. She had a cellular phone in her hand and she called 911 and just like talking to the man, she said, "where are you taking me why through this route and so on." The man was not knowing that on the other end emergency service of police were listening to the conversation. The police chased the vehicle according to the clue regarding the route and they could rescue the young woman and her child without any harm. Yes, God has given angels for the service of man. If you are a child of God, God will protect you sending His angels as He did in the lives of the Israelites when they were coming out from Egypt. Egyptian army followed them but God sent His angels and protected them from the back so that the Egyptian army could never come near them. 3. Angels bring messages for His people: Angels bring messages for His people. If we read from Genesis to Revelation we can see many occasions where the Bible says about angels bringing the messages from God for His people, for instant when Hagar was in pain and when she lost her hope and when she looked to God and cried, then God sent His angel to give His message of hope and consolation as we read it in Genesis 21:17, "And God heard the voice of the lad. Then the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said to her, "What ails you, Hagar? Fear not, for God has heard the voice of the lad where he is." Angels brought the news for Abraham saying that God is going to destroy Sodom and Gomorra. Angels came to Manoah and his wife with the message that God is giving them a male child and later on Samson was borne in their family. Angels proclaimed the birth of Jesus.4. Angels guide His people: Bible says that God sends His angel to guide His people. We read in Genesis 24:7, "The LORD God of heaven, who took me from my father's house and from the land of my family, and who spoke to me and swore to me, saying, 'To your descendants I give this land,' He will send His angel before you, and you shall take a wife for my son from there.’" And also the Bible says when Israelites came out from Egypt, God led them Exodus 32:34 "Now therefore, go, lead the people to the place of which I have spoken to you. Behold, My Angel shall go before you. Nevertheless, in the day when I visit for punishment, I will visit punishment upon them for their sin."5. They do certain works: The Bible says that when a righteous person dies, God sends His angel to bring their soul to heaven as the Bible says in Luke 16:22, "So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham's bosom. The rich man also died and was buried." So angels are given for those who love the Lord and walk in His ways. They protect us, they guide us, they bring messages for us and they comfort us when we go through troubles. They are not God but there is a God who is above all who created everything even the angels.
As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
