Hebrew 11:11, “Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.”

Hebrew 11:12, “Therefore sprang there even of one, and him as good as dead, so many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable.”

Here we see a very old woman who received the promise of a child from God. Her womb was dead and there was no hope that she could ever bear a child. Her as well as and her husband Abraham’s dream of a child has been shattered long back. When God said, “you will have a child,” they laughed. Why? Because it was hard for them to believe. Genesis 17:17, Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed, and said in his heart, "Shall a child be born to a man who is one hundred years old? And shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a child?"

Yes, my friend, you may be in this situation today. May be your dreams are buried deep in your heart and you might have thought these dreams are never going to come true.” You might have thought, “I have to live all my life in this misery and pain.” But the Bible tells us about a God who is almighty and that there is nothing impossible with Him. The same God who brought forth life in the dead womb of Sara and enlightened the life of Abraham can bring forth life in your dreams. The same God who made the dreams of Sara and Abraham a reality can do the same to you also. He is the same yesterday today and forever.

Ruth a young widow lost all her hopes of a better future. According to the Israelites’ custom, if her husband died, she may marry her husband’s younger brother. But Ruth had no younger brother in law. Ruth was a woman whose dreams and future were dead and there was no hope that she would have a better future anymore. But when we read the life of Ruth we can see how miraculously God arranged for her marriage and how blessed her life was.

Almost three years back I went for routine checkup of my eyes and the doctors who examined me said that I have thousands of tiny white spots in my Retina and it will cause permanent blindness.” When I heard this, fear gripped my soul. Yes, one bad report from the doctor can shatter all your dreams. But our God is not a dead God. He can help us to come out from all our bad situations. Three years have passed by but thank God I am still having vision in my eyes while I did not take any medicine, the fact is doctors do not have any medicine for my eye problem.

You may be in this situation today where no one can help you or has any solution for your problem. Your dreams may be completely dead and buried and you may be totally in disarray and hopeless situation. But the same God who breathed life in the dreams of Sara, Abraham and Ruth can do this for you. Look to Jesus, He can help you and make your dreams come true.

Original Sin - Is it Paul's invention?

I found many people having problem with Paul and the books of News Testament which Paul wrote. It looks that the problem is not new. It was there even in the first century. That was why Peter had to give a clarification and emphasizing that Paul’s writing was not of his own but was written by the wisdom that was given to him.

2 Pet 3:15, “and consider that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you,”
2 Pet 3:16, “as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures.”

Why do people have problem with Paul's epistles and why people twist his epistles? The reason is simple. Paul had written the Gospel with more emphasis as it was directly from God.

Gal 1:11, “But I make known to you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man.”
Gal 1:12, “For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ.”

It is God speaking through Paul and many people do not take it as the Word of God. Instead, they have a thinking that Paul wrote something from his own mind. Because every time when some thing comes from God devil does not like it and he tries his best that people do not understand it or reject it.

Now, what are the problems people usually have with Paul's writing?

Few of them are
1. Sin came through Adam and all in this world are sinners.
2. Gifts of Holy Spirit
3. Salvation is only through Jesus Christ
4. Confession of sins and believing in Lord Jesus Christ

We are going to look at the Original Sin today

I go to many message boards and find that many people have problem with Paul's writing about Adam's sin and how through Adam sin entered into the world. They believe that Man is good except that he has some bad habits. So they do not like Paul because Paul wrote that all in this world are sinners.

Rom 3:11, “There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God.”
Rom 3:12, “They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no, not one.”
Rom 3:13, "Their throat is an open tomb; With their tongues they have practiced deceit"; "The poison of asps is under their lips";
Rom 3:14, "Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness."
Rom 3:23, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” But is it Paul the only one talking about it? Answer is no

If you read Psalms 14:2, 3 you find that Psalmist says the very same thing

Psa 14:2, “The LORD looks down from heaven upon the children of men, To see if there are any who understand, who seek God.
Psa 14:3, “They have all turned aside, They have together become corrupt; There is none who does good, No, not one.

The intend of the above verses was repeated by Jesus when He addressed the crowd to let a sinless person among them to through the first stone.

John 8:7, “So when they continued asking Him, He raised Himself up and said to them, "He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first.”

Jesus again says in John 3:5, 6 that unless a person is born of water and Spirit he cannot see the kingdom of God. What does it mean? This means that a person born of flesh is flesh and he does not have eternal life. So every one of them needs to be born by Spirit. And that can happen only through Jesus Christ.

John 3:5, “Jesus answered, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
John 3:6, "That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

Paul says in 1 Cor 15:2, 22, “that Adam's sin is responsible for sinful nature of human beings. And through Adam's sin death came.”
1 Cor 15:21, “For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead.
1 Cor 15:22, “For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.”

The effect of this death is the very reason that a person is born in this word have a spiritually dead spirit and only Jesus can give life to it. And that life comes by being born of the Spirit of God. If we read in Old Testament we find that Numbers 14:18 describes that Sin which have a generational effect.

Num 14:18, 'The LORD is longsuffering and abundant in mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression; but He by no means clears the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation.'

We see that Adam sinned. Cain also sinned and it goes on. Finally God had to bring Noah's flood. And in Genesis 8:21 God said that the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth. Again the implication is that all humans are sinners

Gen 8:21, “And the LORD smelled a soothing aroma. Then the LORD said in His heart, "I will never again curse the ground for man's sake, although the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; nor will I again destroy every living thing as I have done.”

Good news is that Jesus came into this world to save us from sin. To redeem us and to set us free. That is what paul says in 1 Cor 15:22, “For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.” Through Jesus Christ we have life.

It is very simple to receive this life. It's only a small step of faith that takes you into eternity and gives you life. John 1:12,13 says that as many as received Him (that means, received Jesus) they all became children of God.

John 1:12, “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:”
John 1:13, “who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”

Do you want this life? Look to Jesus, He is willing to change your life, He is willing to give you a new life. He is willing to give you eternity. Say to Him, “Lord Jesus I know I am a sinner please forgive me and wash me with your blood. Make me clean and please come into my heart and live in me. Amen

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 12th Aug. 2008

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 12th Aug. 2008

Printed Version of the Magazine
