Psa 22:4-5, "Our fathers trusted in You; They trusted, and You delivered them. They cried to You, and were delivered; They trusted in You, and were not ashamed."

Bible tells us how Joseph was sold and he was taken to Egypt. Though he was a slave, yet God lifted him up and made him next to Pharaoh(king). And Joseph could reunite with his family many years later. Pharaoh was so happy with Joseph that he gave the best place for Joseph's father and brothers to live. They flourished in that land and became mighty. But many years later the Pharaoh whom Joseph knew, the Pharaoh who had received blessings and could survive the terrible draught because of Joseph, died and new kings came up who slowly forgot what God had done for them through Joseph. The result was that the Israelites who were in Egypt became slaves and bonded laborers. The Israelites served Egypt for 400 long years as bonded laborers. Their affliction grew more and more and they cried out to God for help. God sent Moses to deliver them from the bondage of Egypt.

Many a times we go through troubles and problems and it seems as if God is no where in the scene. But God comes at the right time to rescue His people. In the book of Esther we read about Mordecai who reported a plot against king Ahasuerus and saved the life of the king. But we read that he was not rewarded at that time when he saved the king but God waited for the right time when he received his reward in such a spectacular way. In Esther 5th chapter we read that Haman was happy after giving orders for destroying all the Jews, but when he saw that Mordecai was sitting in the gate he said in Est 5:13-14, "Yet all this avails me nothing, so long as I see Mordecai the Jew sitting at the king's gate." Then his wife Zeresh and all his friends said to him, "Let a gallows be made, fifty cubits high, and in the morning suggest to the king that Mordecai be hanged on it; then go merrily with the king to the banquet." And the thing pleased Haman; so he had the gallows made.

6th chapter tells us that in that night the king could not sleep and he asked for the history books to be read before him. We read in Esther 6:2-3, "And it was found written that Mordecai had told of Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king's eunuchs, the doorkeepers who had sought to lay hands on King Ahasuerus. Then the king said, "What honor or dignity has been bestowed on Mordecai for this?" And the king's servants who attended him said, "Nothing has been done for him." Then king asked, "who is in the court?" and his soldiers said that, Haman was there. Haman just entered the court to talk to the king about Mordecai to get from him the order to hang him on the gallows. But to his utter shock, king ordered to honor Mordecai through him.

What happened in this incident cannot be a coincidence but a sure miracle from God. Mordecai's deliverance came in the exact hour at the most critical time when he was about to be hanged. Mordecai did not receive any rewards previously but he received his reward in due time when it was needed. Many a times we do not see any reward for our hard labor but if you are walking in the ways of God, God will not forget you. He is working behind the scene to give you reward at the right time. He will deliver you at the right time. His time may not be your time and His reward may not come in the time when you think but He will reward you in perfect time.

God sent Moses to Egypt to deliver his people. For Moses it was not an easy task. He had to stand before Pharaoh and to say, "Let my people go." Well, this small sentence does not look very bad and anybody could say that. But it was the question of the whole economy of Egyptian country. It was the question of more than 2.4 million people of whom most of them were hard laborers whom pharaoh could lose if he agreed to the demand of Moses. Pharaoh could foresee the trouble in his land and so he refused to send them away. But Moses trusted in God and he got a great victory. He could lead the 2.4 million people out of Egypt and take care of them for 40 years. His job was challenging and difficult. Many a times he faced opposition of the people. Many tried to kill him and overthrow his leadership and wanted to return to Egypt. But every time he looked towards God and because of that he could see victory in his life. Because he trusted in God, he could survive in those times of trouble.

Yes, my friend, may be today you are seeing most difficult challenges in your life but if you trust in God, He will deliver you in due time and you will not be ashamed.

What happens when a person dies?

By Sherly Isaac

There are many opinions about this topic. Some think that when a person dies, he is just dead and there is no life after that. Some think that, indeed there is life after death. Recently I read some articles which said that, "God is love so He will not allow souls to be tormented forever in hell fire." He quoted the Strongs Concordance and said like this, "PERISH : The Greek word for perish according to the Strongs Concordance, means to destroy fully, die or mar. DESTRUCTION : The Greek word for 'Destruction' according to the Strongs Concordance, can mean the following: Perdition, waste, to die, destroying, utter destruction of vessels, ruin." And further he says, " The words "passed away" in the Strongs means 'Perish' or 'Go away'. The words 'Everlasting Destruction' actually mean that they will always be destroyed. That is God's punishment to the wicked. They will never have life. It is also God's mercy to the wicked because nobody really wants to exist forever in a sinful state, cut away from the presence of God who is Love and the source of all good."

And one other article said, "The word "perish" can not possibly be correctly interpreted to mean living forever in separation from God."

When I read that, I was really stunned and thought, "what type of theory is it?" Will God really remove them from this world permanently and destroy them and forget about them? I think not. Bible is very clear about a place where wicked will be tormented forever and there would be no rest for them.

In Luke 16th chapter in the verses 19-31 Jesus told a parable about Lazarus and the Rich man. Both died but reached in different places. Lazarus reached a place where he was comforted and had peace, but the Rich man reached a place called "Hades" where he was in great torment. In the same passage we read that the Rich man and Lazarus were fully awake and recognized each other. The Rich man also recognized Abraham and cried out, "Father Abraham, have mercy on me."

Now many think that these verses are figurative because they think that Old Testament is silent about the state of dead or they think that Old Testament says that there is no life after death. But you may be amazed to hear that there are so many verses in Old Testament which proves that when a person dies, his spirit/soul is awake. I am quoting few verses from the Bible here:

Job 33:21-22, "His flesh wastes away from sight, And his bones stick out which once were not seen. Yes, his soul draws near the Pit, And his life to the executioners."

Writer of Ecclesiastes says that dust or flesh will return to earth but soul will go to its eternal home as we read in Eccl 12:5-7, "Also they are afraid of height, And of terrors in the way; When the almond tree blossoms, The grasshopper is a burden, And desire fails. For man goes to his eternal home, And the mourners go about the streets. Remember your Creator before the silver cord is loosed, Or the golden bowl is broken, Or the pitcher shattered at the fountain, Or the wheel broken at the well. Then the dust will return to the earth as it was, And the spirit will return to God who gave it."

David says that after death they will bow down before Him in Psa 22:29, "All the prosperous of the earth Shall eat and worship; All those who go down to the dust Shall bow before Him, Even he who cannot keep himself alive."

Bible says about the state of wicked in Job 18:12-15, "His strength is starved, And destruction is ready at his side. It devours patches of his skin; The firstborn of death devours his limbs. He is uprooted from the shelter of his tent, And they parade him before the king of terrors. They dwell in his tent who are none of his; Brimstone is scattered on his dwelling.

Mat 25:46 "And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."

Dan 12:2, "And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, Some to everlasting life, Some to shame and everlasting contempt."

If dead will be destroyed utterly or perish then there is no need of awaking to have everlasting life or everlasting contempt. But what about the word "Perish" or "Death" used? The word "Perish" or "Death" used is referring to the physical body. The question is whether spirit/soul (the spiritual body) of wicked will see judgment or not? According to the Bible the answer is yes.

Dead will be judged and get punishment: And in Rev 20:12-15, "And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire."

Rev. 11:18 says, "and Your wrath has come, And the time of the dead, that they should be judged, And that You should reward Your servants the prophets and the saints, And those who fear Your name, small and great, And should destroy those who destroy the earth."

1 Pet 4:5 They will give an account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.

When Jesus died after crucifixion, he went to the lower parts of the earth and preached to the spirits as we read in Eph 4:8-9, 'Therefore He says: "When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, And gave gifts to men." (Now this, "He ascended"; what does it mean but that He also first descended into the lower parts of the earth?' And in 1 Pet 3:19, "by whom also He went and preached to the spirits in prison."

Remember, Jesus was dead and was buried and he was in the grave for three days and three nights. But the above verses say that, Jesus went to the lower parts of the earth and preached to the spirits. The above verses are very clear that there is life in the lower parts of the earth or hell. And they are tormented there day and night. They will be subject to eternal condemnation as we read in Mark 3:29 "but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is subject to eternal condemnation";

But Jesus came in this world to save us from condemnation but those who do not believe on Him is already condemned as we read in John 3:18-19, "He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil."

Yes, there is a hell and there is a heaven. It is your choice to chose one of them. What would you choose? Or will you just think that there is no need to choose life because your life will end and God will not judge then you are completely mistaken. Turn to God and live.

To be continued...

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 8th Dec.. 2015

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
