Fear plays great role in our lives. Once a person was sentenced to death. The day before his execution his hair was black. But he was so frightened that next day morning his hair turned to gray.

We read in Genesis 19th chapter about Lot whom God saved when He destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah. His two daughters were with him when he came out of the destroyed city. Both the daughters had unnecessary fear of not getting married. That fear played a great role in their lives and they took wrong steps and destroyed their lives. Instead of putting their trust in the almighty God who saved them from destruction, they heeded the voice of fear.

But look at the life of Jacob. Jacob was frightened and distressed when he heard that his brother Esau was coming with four hundred men to meet him (Gen 32:7). Once Jacob fled from his brother because he pretended to be Esau and took all the blessings of Esau from Isaac his father. Now when he was returning and heard about four hundred men with Esau, he was greatly afraid. But his fear could not eat him up. The reason was simple, he put his trust in the Lord God almighty.

We read in Gen 32:9 -12, Then Jacob said, "O God of my father Abraham and God of my father Isaac, the LORD who said to me, 'Return to your country and to your family, and I will deal well with you': I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies and of all the truth which You have shown Your servant; for I crossed over this Jordan with my staff, and now I have become two companies. Deliver me, I pray, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau; for I fear him, lest he come and attack me and the mother with the children. For You said, 'I will surely treat you well, and make your descendants as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude.'"

You can see in what helpless condition Jacob was. He lost all his hopes, yet he cried out to God for help. He pleaded with God claiming all the promises which God gave him. At the end he was victorious. Sure, his brother came with four hundred men but he did not harm him. Their meeting was peaceful. Had Jacob heeded the voice of fear, he would have turned back or would have taken some wrong steps and would have destroyed his life.

In day to day life we come across situations when we feel afraid. But if God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is with us, we can overcome those situations. Fear cannot eat us up. Very often Jesus Himself said, "Fear not". Once He said in Mat 6:25-30, "Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?"

Let the fear of your life may not eat you up. Just put your trust in God. He will come for your rescue just like He came for Jacob and delivered him from all his troubles. Jesus defeated all enemies who could destroy our lives on the cruel cross. We need not to fear for anything. Let us have courage even to face death just as the psalmist who said in Psa 23:4, "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me."

We are glad to tell our readers that, Christians who were in prison are released. We thank all who prayed for them.

Jesus Came to Save Sinners

A few days back Mike Rubin was walking his dog. The six month old puppy ran 20 yards in front of Rubin. A few moments later he heard the puppy crying in a loud shrill voice. He knew that something was wrong. He ran to see and found out that his puppy's head was in the mouth of a six feet alligator. And the alligator was killing her. He jumped straight on the top of the alligator and started punching on its head. Few moments later he pulled the puppy out of alligator's mouth. Rubin said, "It was kind of like I'm not letting this alligator have her." Further he said, "I just reacted. Maybe it wasn't the brightest thing to do. Thank God, my dog is alive. You love your animal so much that you do crazy things." His wife said, "he did not think twice but he reacted immediately. There was no time to think. I could have lost both puppy Jasmine and my husband Rubin." The puppy survived with few bruises and a small cut.

That's the love that made Mr. Rubin to jump in the miry pond and rescue his dog. If he had not taken that bold step he would have lost his dog. Of course he did not need to risk his own life just for a small puppy. He could have got another puppy from any pet shop. But he did not care about his life and rescued his little puppy.

Very often people say, why Jesus needed to give his life for creatures like us? Why He should die this cruel death just to save us? My friend, it was nothing but Love. He loved us so much that He could not sit and see us dying and going to hell fire. He came down in this world and shed His precious blood so that we who are entangled in sin as in a pool of miry clay, out of the mouth of devil. He took the form of man to rescue us and bring us out to safety. Yes, my friend, the devil, the sin of this world and the filth of this world are trying to kill us. But if you lift your voice and scream for help from Jesus, He is ready to rescue you.

Bible tells us in Rom 5:6-9, "For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him."

Come to Jesus, accept Him as your Lord and Savior and trust Him so that you could lead a holy life. He will give you eternal life. Jesus Himself promised in John 17:3, "And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent."

Please pray this prayer with me: Lord Jesus, I am dying the death of a fool. Please come to my rescue. Lord Jesus, today, I accept you as my Lord and Savior. Please come into my life and give me salvation. Please forgive and forget all my sins and give me eternal life. Let me walk in your ways. Thank you for listening to my prayers. I pray in Jesus name, Amen.

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 13th May. 2008

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 13th May. 2008

Printed Version of the Magazine
