Once Jesus said in Mark 4:24-29, Then He said to them, "Take heed what you hear. With the same measure you use, it will be measured to you; and to you who hear, more will be given. "For whoever has, to him more will be given; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him." And He said, "The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground, and should sleep by night and rise by day, and the seed should sprout and grow, he himself does not know how. For the earth yields crops by itself: first the blade, then the head, after that the full grain in the head. But when the grain ripens, immediately he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come."

Human tendency is always to care for the self first and then to think about others. But Jesus told, "With the same measure you use, it will be measured to you; and to you who hear, more will be given. For whoever has, to him more will be given; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him."

At times I wondered what does it mean that whoever has to him more will be given; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him? One day I read the story of one teacher and his disciple who were both traveling. In the old days people used to travel by foot. So both of them were traveling and they were tired. They were walking through the suburb of a village where there were two wells. One of the wells was broken and had many bricks falling from it but the other well was newly built.

Now when the teacher told his disciple saying, "whoever has to him more will be given; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him" his disciple was very much amazed and asked, "how could it be?" So the teacher said that he will explain it later on and asked him to go and bring some bricks. The disciple went and brought some bricks. The master asked him, "from which well did you bring the bricks?" Answer came, "from the broken well." why? The master asked. Because loose bricks were already there so I picked it up from there and also who wants to destroy the newly built well? And then the disciple could understand the saying of his teacher that "whoever has to him more will be given; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him"

Jesus told another parable in which a master went to another city and before going he gave five, two and one talents respectively to each of his three servants. Those who received five and two talents multiplied them through business and had five and two more talents with them. When the master saw it, he was very happy. But the person who received one talent did not multiply his talent. So the master was angry with him and said in Mat 25:28-29, 'Therefore take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents. For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away."

Jesus also told in John 15 that, "if we abide in Him then only we can bring fruit." And in John 15:6 He said, "If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned."

Abiding in Jesus is important and before we could abide, we need to be grafted in to the vine. It happens when we confess our sins and accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. When our sins are forgiven by the precious blood of Jesus, we are connected with God and if we abide in Him, He will give us eternal life.

John MacArthur writes in his book titled, "Hard to Believe: The High Cost and Infinite Value of Following Jesus" (Chapter 4, page 61, Title "The Best Example" under subtitle, "Physician Heal Yourself") that, "You can take all the so-called miracle-workers, from Jannes, Jambres, and the Egyptian Magicians all the way down to Simon Magus in the New Testament; you can take all the oracles of Delphi and all the black magicians and white magicians and bring them all together; you can take all the hocus-pocus faith healers and TV evangelists, line them up, and have them perform their whole gig of so called miracles. Yet when they're finished, whether they're true or false, they do not prove that Jesus Christ can save someone from hell. All of this supposed miracle-working on television today has absolutely no bearing on the power of the gospel. I don't know what those "healers" think they're accomplishing by falsifying miracles--as if falsifying miracles somehow is going to cause people to believe in Jesus Christ. It isn't. It doesn't. It never did--Jesus banished disease and demons from the whole land of Israel with authentic miracles, and they put Him on a cross."

It is completely horrifying to see that MacArthur has compared faith healer and TV evangelists with black and white magicians and with witch doctors. I am not sure John MacArthur has ever read the Bible or not? Miracles are undivided part of Bible. From the beginning to the end we read about mighty and awesome miracles done by God. We read in the Bible that God of the Bible is miracle-worker. Not only Jesus performed numerous miracles but His disciples also did mighty and awesome miracles. Even with Peter's shadow people got healed and through Paul's handkerchief people got healed. In the Old Testament those who put their trust in God were able to see mighty and awesome miracles in their lives. Abraham, Moses, Israelites, David, Ruth, Hagar and the list goes on who saw mighty miracles. How could John MacArthur think that those miracles are fake? Job says that God does marvelous miracles without number in Job 5:9, "Who does great things, and unsearchable, Marvelous things without number." And also in Job 9:10, "He does great things past finding out, Yes, wonders without number."

Not only that but Jesus Himself said in John 14:12, "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father." And those miracles did not die down but they are still here because God of the Bible is the Living God. He is unchanging God and does not change. What He did in the past He is able to do today and He is able to do in the future.

But I am amazed to see the remark of John MacArthur who thinks that miracle days are over. If you have read the Bible, you can understand that without Faith it is impossible to please God and also miracles cannot happen if you do not have faith.

Miracles do happen and they are real because God is real and He is interested in giving us a blessed life which is free from sicknesses and poverty. If you pick up a Bible and turn the pages of the Bible you can see that almost every page records awesome wonders done by God.

If we believe mighty miracles can happen in our lives even today. It is definitely not by magic or witchcraft but it is by the mighty power of Holy Spirit. I remember that when my dad got very sick in the year 2005 and when doctors gave us no hope, when we looked to Jesus, He healed my dad. This is not the only miracle that we saw in our lives but we have seen many many miracles.

But when John MacArthur does not believe in the mighty power of God and then preaches another gospel, we need to be very careful before we believe in his teachings.

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 8th Dec.. 2015

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
