When we think of God we expect that He should be able to deliver us from all our problems, troubles and also from our sins. But if someone claims to be God but does not show any quality of God or not capable of solving our problems or unable to forgive our sins then he cannot be God.

In the Bible we read that God of the Bible is a deliverer and solver of our problems. We read about David a young man who was just 16 years old. When the king of Israel realized that his kingdom is slipping away from him, he became enemy of David. Now David ran for his life and wandered in the wilderness. At times David was very discouraged, very frustrated and became afraid for his life. So he said about himself that death was only a step away from him. But Saul even being the king of Israel with all his army could not catch him nor could he come near to him. Because God was with David God protected him from all harm. Not only that but one day David himself became king of Israel.

Another story we read about Moses. When Moses was a new born child, there was a decree from the king of Egypt that every new born male child should be killed. So Moses' parents hid him for six months in their kitchen. But when they could no longer hid him, his mother took an ark of bulrushes, daubed it with asphalt and pitch, put the child in it, and laid it among the reeds by the river's bank.

When Pharaoh's daughter came to take bath, she saw the basket floating and she told her maidens to go and fetch the basket. And when she had opened it, she saw the child: and, behold, the babe wept. And she had compassion on him, and said, This is one of the Hebrews' children. Then she took Moses in her palace and raised him as her own son. Moses who was destined to die because of the decree of the Egyptian king not only survived but also was raised in the palace of the same king who wanted him dead.

This same God is ready to deliver us from all our troubles and ready to make ways where there is no way at all and He can even use our enemies to bless us and protect us.

God is not only interested in our physical wellbeing and deliverance but also in our spiritual wellbeing. He came to deliver us from our sin and from hell fire. And that was the only reason that Jesus died on the cruel cross so that we could get forgiveness of our sins. Today, we can have forgiveness of ours sins and can attain eternal life because of the shed blood of Jesus. If we just come to Him and accept Him as our Lord and Savior, He is ready to forgive and forget all our sins and turn our situations around.

When Jesus was in this world, He forgave the sins of people and gave them assurance of heaven. And He is not changed nor His qualities. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. If we repent and accept Him today He is ready to forgive us and give us eternal life. If you want to see deliverance in your life, just come to Jesus.

John MacArthur writes in his book titled, "Hard to Believe: The High Cost and Infinite Value of Following Jesus" (Chapter 2, page 34, Title "The Hard Truth" under subtitle "The Dreadful Doctrine") that, "God is sovereign, and you are not. You are not the captain of your soul or the master of your fate. You do not hold your destiny in your own hand.

According to 1 Corinthians 1:24, those who believe are those whom God calls and sovereignly draws, God calls them because He has chosen them (v.27), eklegomi, picked them out for Himself. The word appears again in verse 28.

How could anybody get saved under those terms? You've got nothing left! You're absolutely stripped of everything. Verse 30: "But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God--and righteousness and sanctification and redemption." So, if it's all God's doing anyway, why would I tamper with the message? Why would I try to manipulate the results? Verse 31: "He who glories, let him glory in the LORD."

My friend R.C. Sproul has said that "God's favorite doctrine is sovereignty, and if you were God, it would be yours too." A wonderful sentiment like that helps offset the sick feeling I get when I hear contemporary evangelicals attack the sovereignty of God. His elective purpose is salvation, because if God isn't saving people. They won't be saved. This is a hard truth that many prominent evangelicals deny, stealing glory from God and overestimating the ability of the spiritually dead!

On very famous evangelical says: "To suggest that the merciful, long-suffering, gracious, and loving God of the Bible would invent a dreadful doctrine like election, which would have us believe it is an act of grace to select only certain people for heaven, comes perilously close to blasphemy." In other words, the claim that God sovereignly saves people by His power is almost insulting to His character. (He doesn't suggest how else they might get saved.)

Of course Bible never says that God will do everything and we have nothing to do to be saved. When Moses was about to die, he said to people, "choose from life and death", remember Israelites were chosen people!

Here is what Moses clearly spoke to them, Deu 30:19, "I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live;"

This does not happen until you choose life. God has already done everything for our salvation. He has given His life for us but now we have to choose Him as our Lord and Savior and the second possibility is that we can reject Him as well. And Moses clearly said that if you choose Him, you will see life, goodness and blessings of God but if you reject Him, there would be curse, death and no goodness of God. It can be understand clearly if we read Deuteronomy 30:17-18, "But if your heart turns away so that you do not hear, and are drawn away, and worship other gods and serve them, I announce to you today that you shall surely perish; you shall not prolong your days in the land which you cross over the Jordan to go in and possess."

Now why God chose them in the first place? We need to go to the very roots of it to know it. In Deu 7:6-9, "For you are a holy people to the LORD your God; the LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth. The LORD did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples; but because the LORD loves you, and because He would keep the oath which He swore to your fathers, the LORD has brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you from the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. Therefore know that the LORD your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments;"

God chose them because of Abraham who was faithful to God. Once I heard about Abraham that he and his father were idol worshippers and never knew the one true God. One day he smashes his father's idols and realized that those idols had no power to save themselves. And great quest begun in his heart that there must be a greater, invisible power who must be controling the sun, the moon and the stars. Day after day, he asked, if there is a God He should reveal Himself to me. One day God spoke to him and said in Gen 12:1-3, "Get out of your country, From your family And from your father's house, To a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed."

In New Testament Jesus spoke a parable in Matthew 22nd chapter which clearly tells us that God has invited us and it is our choice to accept His invitation or reject His invitation.

Mat 22:1-14, "And Jesus answered and spoke to them again by parables and said: The kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who arranged a marriage for his son, and sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding; and they were not willing to come. Again, he sent out other servants, saying, 'Tell those who are invited, "See, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and fatted cattle are killed, and all things are ready. Come to the wedding."' But they made light of it and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his business. And the rest seized his servants, treated them spitefully, and killed them. But when the king heard about it, he was furious. And he sent out his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city. Then he said to his servants, 'The wedding is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy. Therefore go into the highways, and as many as you find, invite to the wedding.' So those servants went out into the highways and gathered together all whom they found, both bad and good. And the wedding hall was filled with guests. But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw a man there who did not have on a wedding garment. So he said to him, 'Friend, how did you come in here without a wedding garment?' And he was speechless. Then the king said to the servants, 'Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.' For many are called, but few are chosen."

In this parable also Jesus made it clear that though they came and the wedding hall was filled yet unless they have the proper dress for wedding, they will not be accepted but will be removed. Bible tells us that when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, He gives us white garment of righteousness and we have to keep it white by living in holiness.

Jesus again said in Rev 3:20, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me."

Jesus is knocking at the heart's door of every individual, and if we hear His knock and open the door for Him, He will gladly come in. Again we see no mention of any election or selection in the above verses. Bible also tells us that God is not a God of partiality. Whoever seeks Him finds Him. He said in Mat 11:28, "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."

If you come to Him He is ready to give you rest, salvation, peace and ready to take your burdens. This invitation is open for everyone and you can come to Him no matter how many sins you have committed because Jesus can forgive your sins and can give you eternal life. And Yes, Jesus does all these things because He loves us so much that He even gave His life for us.

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 8th Dec.. 2015

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
