Last week we have seen that despite all the several ways through which Saul tried to kill David, all his efforts failed and a day came when David became king of Israel. What God spoke, He fulfilled His word exactly as He said. Though king Saul put all his army, all his power and all his time in pursuing David, he could never catch him nor could he come near him.

Today we are going to look at another man who faced similar challenges who had to face Pharaoh the king of Egypt in delivering the Israelites from the rule of Egypt. Moses' challenge came from the witch doctors, magicians and the whole team of Pharaoh directed closely by Pharaoh himself who tried their level best to somehow stop the Israelites from leaving Egypt. Once again despite all their efforts they failed miserably. The reason was that God was faithful to fulfill His promises. No matter what happens, no matter how hard powerful men or devil try to stop God's plan, they will fail.

Not only will they fail in their attempt, but those who try to stop the work of God will face a tragic end. Saul's end was very tragic. When he pursued David, when he tried to kill David, he never thought that one day he has to face the creator and never paid much attention to correct his life. But when he knew that he would be dead the next day, he was dreadfully afraid. 1 Samuel 28:20, "Immediately Saul fell full length on the ground, and was dreadfully afraid because of the words of Samuel. And there was no strength in him, for he had eaten no food all day or all night." And later he killed himself in the battle. What a tragic end for him! If he had given himself completely in the hands of God his story would have been different but he chose his own destruction.

Pharaoh did the same thing. He hardened his heart and did not allow the Israelites to go until he lost his own son and the first born sons of the Egyptians. Though Moses told him and warned him of the plan of God and though he humbly requested Pharaoh to let the Israelites go out of Egypt yet he did not allow them. When Moses showed the signs from God, Pharaoh called his magicians and his witch doctors and they performed the same signs up to some limit. But they could not do any further beyond that point and they admitted that it is the work of God as we read in Exd 8:18-19, "Now the magicians so worked with their enchantments to bring forth lice, but they could not. So there were lice on man and beast. Then the magicians said to Pharaoh, "This is the finger of God." But Pharaoh's heart grew hard, and he did not heed them, just as the LORD had said."

So ten plagues came over Egypt and when the whole Egypt was destroyed including the firstborn sons of the Egyptians, he allowed Moses and the Israelites to go. Still he could not resist himself and followed them after letting them go. That brought more destruction in the life of Pharaoh than the loss what he expected in allowing the Israelites to go.

Sometimes people do not think of the consequences of what they do when they stand against God and His will and they bring destruction for themselves. But what God speaks something He will bring it to pass and nobody can stop it. If God has to do some work, He will do it by His mighty power. Devil and the people may think that they can oppose the work of God but they are severely mistaken. Nothing can stop God, His work and His will.

My friend, if God has spoken a word over your life, He will surely bring it to pass. He will never allow the devil and those who want to destroy the plans of God in your life. You may be going through hard times but just trust in the Lord and He will do mighty things in your life.

John MacArthur writes in his book titled, "Hard to Believe: The High Cost and Infinite Value of Following Jesus" (Chapter 4, page 70, Title "The Best Example" under subtitle, "True Freedom") that, "Probably nothing is more true of sinners today than that they think they are free... Such people are not free. The Bible defines them as prisoners. Sin has indebted them to God, and it's a debt they cannot pay. They are in bondage and they are awaiting eternal death according to Hebrew 2:15, Satan wields the power of death and holds captive "those who through fear of death are all their lifetime subject to bondage." They are the children of wrath; Ephesians 2:2 calls them "sons of disobedience" Who are under the power of, and in bondage to, their own sin. The divine sentence on them is incarceration for eternity in hell, where they will never die.

The real Sovereign over them, the real Judge who has imprisoned them, called them guilty, and sentenced them to death, is God Himself. It is God who destroys both soul and body in hell. The sinner is a prisoner of Satan and sin, but more than that, he's a prisoner of God, the eternal Executioner, who is holding him accountable and has him awaiting a horrific, unending death.

If we read Hebrew 2:15 and Ephesians 2:2 both does not say what John MacArthus is saying. To know more clearly let us look at Hbr 2:14 & 15, "Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage."
And Eph 2:2, "in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience,"

You can see that all these verses clearly tell us that Jesus came to save us from sin and bondage so that we could have eternal life. God does not want anybody to die and perish in hell. God has never imprisoned anybody nor is He willing to destroy anybody's soul and body in hell. When God created Adam and Eve they were sinless. But sin came in this world so did the punishment for sin. Yet, God wanted to save everyone who comes to Him.

If God wanted to imprison anybody, kill or punish anybody then He would have not come in this world to die for our sins. But He came in this world to take away our sins and our punishment from us. Today we can be saved from our sins by coming to Jesus, by repenting from our sins and when we do that, our sins are washed away and a new life begins with Jesus. God is not a cruel master as John MacArthur thinks but God is so loving that He gave Himself for us and He took our sins on Himself. In John 3:16 we read, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

Further John MacArthur writes, "That's the choice eternal death or eternal life. To gain eternal life, you have to let go of your spiritual pride, and die to yourself. To lead others to Christ, to save them from the eternal judgment, you have to speak that truth in love; you have to tell them the truth without pulling any punches."

My friend, In order to get forgiveness of your sins, you do not need to die to yourself or lead others to Christ. But just come at the feet of Jesus and you will be saved. Look at Zacchaeus, he confessed his sins to Jesus and Jesus said, "Today salvation has come to this house." Luk 19:8-9, "Then Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, "Look, Lord, I give half of my goods to the poor; and if I have taken anything from anyone by false accusation, I restore fourfold." And Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham;"

Just come to Jesus repenting from your sins and you will be saved and your sins will be forgiven by the precious blood of Jesus who gave His precious life for you and me. God loves us and He wants to save us and He is waiting for you with open arms. Will you accept His invitation, today?

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 8th Dec.. 2015

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
